They were required to by the Japanese content owners. We can only assume they think "Holo" looks prettier than "Horo" (or that they were raised with one of the older romaji systems).

One thing I've learned is that the alphabet has a *visual* component to Japanese that people raised with the alphabet don't think about (unless they're calligraphy buffs or study archaic English). There are romaji systems that use "l" instead of "r" ... they're just older and somewhat out of favor as they tend to encourage poorER pronunciation of words by foreigners. Japanese themselves are saying the same "l-d-r" noise whether they write "l" or "r".
A lot of time anymore I just write "ホロ” instead of "Horo" or "Holo" anymore -- just remember its said the same way no matter how its approximated with phonetic characters.

Ah yes, the l-d-r spectrum... one of those letters seldom does a Nih. word adequate justice in pronunciation.
And Vexx is right, Holo is Horo is ホロ. It's all the same to me. But of course remember, SHE does spell it Holo.

CM's Horo is up for pre-order!
I want her but she's extremely overpriced! I can get higher quality MaxFactory or GSC figures for that much money, not lousy CM... AmiAmi

Ahhh, there is a hand puppet of him and a mini figure. I'd get one if they made one, but he'd be set off in the corner (I don't want to look at a dude)... but not as far in the corner my mini Norah figure. Hahaha. I mean Norah is nice and all, but Holo beats her NO CONTEST!

No... I always prefer figure sets of *all* the major cast members, but the grim market economics say its the females most likely to be sculpted as figures. A few series have included male figures but they're somewhat unusual (outside of kid's shounen action shows).

Hey, all I'm saying is that Holo's mine. Lawrence isn't getting her in my house. Haha.
And summoner, to answer your question, I own them but have not played them. I don't have a DS at this time (and haven't had time to play anyway)... I hope to start working on the both of them later this year.

I pre-ordered that new one. The Volks and Goodsmile ones from years ago are also good but near impossible to find and so overpriced wherever they appear. So at least I can finally have a Horo in my collection.
