Exactly. Chapters 4-13 in a row all have the covers. And now they're appearing more sporadically. Like 15-16, 19-20, 24, 27.
In any case, they're covers. They have nothing to do with the story and I'd hardly call them out of place. It IS romance series folks. And I for one am not ashamed to admit I like them and hope Kei gets to do a lot more of these covers. Last edited by Solace; 2010-03-21 at 02:39. Reason: Removed quote. |

They make me uncomfortable because they are not what this manga is about. I would understand the cover like the one with shackles and so on because it has a double meaning but this one...
GE has almost no fanservice (specially after beginning) but the covers are making it look like it is one big fanservice whore show. I do not like it trying to sell it for something that it is not, that's all. |

Yes I am. I am not happy when the cover do not match the content, be that books or other things. Because it seems like the author cannot sell it well in normal means and for the value he/she chose for that creation to represent, and try to deceive the reader or whoever by pretending to be something that it is not.

Is posting links to manga readers allowed on this site or not? Because I posted an OM link yesterday, and got corrected within 5 minutes. Yet no one seems to mind the MF links. Are there certain sites that aren't allowed? I'm not complaining, just trying to understand the rules.

Covers should present characters that the chapters focus on, fanservice or not. |

Is that so? Then I better remove the links before the mods burn my ass off.
In any case, at this stage we can all establish that darknemo will just about criticize every aspect of the manga...no exceptions. It is not like that's a bad thing I suppose. Like I said, this might be the only colour cover she is getting for some time, you can never be too sure about things like that when serialising manga. I think she would want to squeeze as many of the "main girls", in the running for Utsumi, into a picture as possible. Colour covers not fitting the content is pretty common, especially for newer mangas. Many girls + fanservicey picture + lets put them in similiar outfits! = this cover. It is not too hard to guess the thought process that went in there. Last edited by Rainrir; 2010-03-20 at 22:23. |

Hell, even if she is trying to 'deceive' them, I know what the series is about already so I just enjoy the covers. And you know what the series is about too, so stop worrying about deception and acting all concerned for poor sensitive readers, making it a way bigger deal than it is, and just enjoy the very lovely eye candy as pre-chapter treat. |

You can be against fan-service in general. I don't see the problem with not liking fan-service o_o. In a story I care about a lot of different things. Plot, pacing, development, characters etc. If those are mediocre, fan service can drive me away from a series.
I'm okay with this series in general, but even I think the fanservice is overly excessive. Am I going to stop reading the series? Probably not unless it becomes disgustingly pornographic. Am I going to make a comment about it in order to make known to the world my superior standards of morality? YES. Seriously though, his problem about fanservice is his problem. |

I was most definitely joking. I know it's hard to understand sarcasm on text, but a lot of writers get away with it all the time, so...
(Hint: Notice the underlined bold italics) If your standard of fan-service is different from mine, that's fine. Covers can be fanservice. Fan service, to me, is an attempt to draw readers in with unnecessary sexual content. Art, in a way, fanservice to books, but not to manga because pictures are an integral part of manga. A really beautiful book cover can be considered "fanservice", and that's why I don't think fanservice by itself is bad. Yes, the covers are therefore fan-service. I'm not going to bash the storyline or drop the series because of it, but I should be able to have my say. |

It is not the problem with fanservice - I do not have a thing about - heck I like reading Nana and Kaoru and the likes, the problem is that it completely mismatches the series. Throwing some covers once in a while - maybe, but the author is pulling them way too many and the last one was the over-the-top (in bad sense) of it. What is too much is too much. |
