I just realized it has been over a year since the first Kyonko version of Haruhi-chan was made. (will just Kyon-chan at first...then Itsuko at the end).

They wouldn't do it...would they?

Golden Smoked Cheese can be exchanged for money, and money may be exchanged for goods and/or services. In Churuya-san's case, she could get far more smoked cheese than she originally had.

See, the makers of smoked cheese signed a huge endorsement deal with Churuya-san. The thing is, she can't actually cash in on it until she manages to eat some herself. The rest of the cast has been bribed to keep her from doing so. Until she succeeds, the makers of smoked cheese are free to use her image to promote their product but don't have to pay her a single yen.

We can assume that he has eaten other roadrunners, or has some instinctual drive to 'hunt' roadrunners.

Although, Churuya might have some instinctual drive to eat smoked cheese.

I guess it is called doing something for so long that you forgot why you are doing it.

Or it could be more like a domesticated dog and cat. The dog chases the cat...maybe it will catch the cat, maybe it won't. When it does, it doesn't know what to do with it half the time, since the instinct says basically, "its running, chase it". However it can be short circuited. Sometimes the cat will chase the dog for a while. I have no idea why (aside that they seem to be having fun), just that they do.
