Thanks Witch Hunt, that was quite a fun read.

The 50% patch feels like it contains more then 50% of the story, unless episode 8 is just really long. Or perhaps I'm not used to reading Umineko after not having read it in such a long time. Or maybe Episode 7 was just really short. Did anyone else feel this way?

You guys don't know how much this helps me out. These past months have been hell for me; first my brother FINALLY goes to the hospital 2 weeks ago and is now living with us then Monday my grandfather passes away which hurts in more ways than one. And with the combination of both has really messed up my classes. It's is a shame that I can't read the game at the moment however the news that a patch has been released help me feel a little better. Thank you Witch-Hunt! There haven't been many changes although in some it was inevitable.

Kinzo: no changes

Hideyoshi: basically it's the same thing, except in the original it followed the japanese alphabet and it was a list of fruits instead of veggies.

Eva: no changes

Gohda: no changes

Kumasawa: practically the same except you need to add a "ku" after "saba" (mackerel) the result "sabaku" means "desert" in japanese. In the question the word used was "dessert" in katakana which transliterates the exact same way as "desert".

Nanjo: Obviously same quiz except WH addedd a lot of explanations and in the end it dumbed it down. the original sounds more like:
"If you add ?? to kyuukyuu (emergency) you get a kyuukyuusha (ambulance), a vehicle with a red light. However if you take ?? from 130 you still get a vehicle with a red light, but it's not a kyuukyuusha (ambulance) anymore."

Genji: no changes

Natsuhi: no changes

Krauss: This one was very clever. The original revolved on the suffix "floor" which in japanese is pronounced "-kai" or "-gai" depending on what's the preceeding number. Since the question specified "-kai" and only one of the numbers in the answers matched with it, only that answer was possible. The english version changed the numbers but transposed perfectly the spirit of the quiz.

Kanon: no changes... except apparently japanese think that the bronze medal is made of copper..... When I tried to solve this in japanese I almost immediately thought about the atomic number but I dismissed the thought because bronze is an alloy and not an element! It took me a while to realize it was actually copper...

Shannon: The same basic principle was followed. However in the original it's the first syllab that counts. I guess in english there was a problem with Sour and Salt and so they opted for the second letter. Naurally the name of the foods were all changed.

Rosa: no changes

Maria: no changes

Kyrie and Rudolf: no changes, but note that Rika, Satoko and Miyoko are written with a different system than the names in Higurashi. In english it's more straight-forward, although the "nipah" is there...

Jessica and George: no changes

Huh...? Another system? As far as I could check again, they are written as 美代子, 沙都子, 梨花 which is exactly the same as in the quiz.
Unless you mean the speech style?

I initially wanted to make it much shorter but after a deliberation regarding the chapter itself going on a breakneck speed, it was judged wiser to leave it complete.

Starting from prologue to chapter 11, it is roughly 50%. It is a bit weird because I feel it the complete opposite: the episode is rather short in fact (reading only of course).

I guess the wait was bending a bit the impressions, because Episode 8 is definitely not that long.

I think it had more to do with the fact that there was so much going on so quickly.

I think it's the wait, the amount of crazy stuff that happens, and...

That's actually not a typo: the font I've used for the puzzles is quite minimalistic with periods and accents. If you check around the upper part of the I, you will see a dot.
