we find out he's not really a villain after all. The following courtesy of Narutopedia: Itachi slaughtered his entire clan overnight, sparing only Sasuke as Sasuke's life was worth more than the village to Itachi, and he could not follow through with the orders to kill him as well. Instead, he made himself out as a villain, who had killed their innocent family only to test his abilities. By doing so, he wanted Sasuke to take vengeance on him and become a hero to Konoha, thus redeeming the Uchiha name. Knowing that Konoha would still want to eliminate Sasuke, Itachi pleaded with the Third Hokage to keep Sasuke safe. He also threatened Danzō to not harm Sasuke or risk him revealing everything he knew about Konoha's secrets to enemy countries. Sasuke's safety was therefore secured and Itachi returned to his original plan of becoming infamous for his slaughter of the Uchiha clan.

Itachi joined Akatsuki in order to keep an eye on the organization, along with Madara Uchiha, in case either ever acted against Konoha, all the while planning for his death at Sasuke's hands.

Trust me, when you finish it, a great big hammer of relief will hit you.

Trust me, from Chapter 16 on through I think 24, it is really sad and you will cry a lot. But after that, a miracle happens. Trust me, it is well worth the pain.

After all is done, you will look back and think, What I have watched was possibly a masterpiece...no wait, it WAS a masterpiece.

I do not want to finish air now... The deaths in Clannad how a HUGE affect on me and I cried. Then I felt really sad for like 3 nights after that.

I would say... No. But at one point yes... I actually can't really remeber right now but I think "No" will be the most suitable answer.

Out of all works from the same author, Air stands out the most because of that factor.

As far as character deaths go, I'm usually quite calm. But it kills me when the dying character has regret, wants to live longer, or is scared of dying. I die a little inside when that happens. I remember them happening in:

Without a doubt, the scene from Valkyria Chronicles...

Isara was a 16 year old girl in the militia, who was always repressed due to her race. She was the target of several racial slanders and a couple of members within her own squad discriminated her. But Isara never backed down. She embraced her race with pride, and sought to one day see a world without racism toward her people. She even went so far as to attempt to befriend her discriminators, namely Rosie. Then, just as Rosie saw the error of her ways, and decided to try and make up for all her racial hate, Isara is shot by a sniper and dies shortly thereafter. Everyone in the squad, including Rosie, was heartbroken.

The video game and anime's respective portrayals of this tragic incident have their own pros and cons. The game made the actual death much more emotional (seriously who didn't cry when Rosie fulfilled Isara's final wish? ). The Anime's portrayal had a better followthrough, and the squad was so much more responsive and visibly caring/saddened by Isara's death. Rosie even suffered PTSD shortly before the funeral. But we can all probably agree we cried both in the game and anime...

Beast Player Erin - my vote for the most shockingly gruesome yet pivotal death.

Clannad -After Story- - Damn you Key. You should die twice! "Happy Ever After" ending didn't soothe the pain or heal the trauma. I almost didn't watch "Angel Beats!" because I heard Key made it.

Angel Beats! - ...and yet, I fell for Key's trap.

Yui's death hit home for me, as I was caring for a dear friend in her position at the time. Watched her die, too.

Sailor Moon - I kept saying to myself, "The hero characters aren't supposed to die, right?? RIGHT???" First time I ever experienced something like that...freaked me out. Glad things worked out, though.

Evangelion - pick a reason.

Millennium Actress - Most beautiful death scene. Ever.
