Interesting. The reason I'm asking is because it's a bit hard to make out where the narrative is trying to go and what to expect, plot-wise- since it seems to be reinventing itself every 12 episodes.
Glad to hear that the first arc still has some relevance.
Thanks for the answers

Novels make it a bit more easier to understand. You should probably go read them. Downside is that you'll know what happens in the anime, but I personally think it's worth it.

My usual attitude is to take things as they come and see how it all comes together in the end. Even in the first anime, I think they did a good job of introducing concepts and having those concepts be revisited and further-refined later, while also introducing new concepts to be explored. I imagine it'll similarly keep coming together in the continuation; looking forward to it.

I watched the PV and I'm already rather disappointed at the VA selection for the girl who's name wasn't either mentioned or I just can't remember it..

Grr .. one of the VA's I really dislike

edit: Ahem .. This probably doesn't belong in this thread but not sure where else to put it. Where is the general discussion for SAO II?

CR had annouced regions for SAO 2... but there's a problem with that...

*NOTE: Stream dates for Europe territories will be delayed by 1 month, except for UK and Ireland.

I am guessing that means that some other provider(s) have the license in other territories and get "first dibs". It sure is annoying to people in those countries who don't use the other providers, though...

So I did myself zero favors by looking at wikipedia. instantly spoiled the plot line for me.

In other news, I'm pretty sure they confirmed the date for July 5th. I'm incredibly excited, but I'm wondering if they'll just release the first episode on the 5th, or the whole season with subs/dubs. :/

Um, July 5th is when season two starts airing in Japan. It's impossible for them to have the entire thing available.

It's nice though since these "expanded regions" are also now getting the first season and the SAO EXTRA special as well, which is probably very nice for them.

Sword Art Online II Anime's New Trailer Debuts Before July 5 Premiere

"Kirito chases down Death Gun criminal within online game for July 5 anime.
Aniplex began streaming a new trailer for the Sword Art Online II anime series on Sunday. The trailer began streaming online shortly after the early screening event in Japan for episode one."

Spoiler for size, dialogue longer than the previous pv:

Kirito riding a motorcycle. Kirito riding a motorcycle !

GGO wins from having that feature alone .

The animation for season 2 is so far looking pretty good .

Nice to see that we'll be getting some Kirito x Asuna scenes in both the real world and ALO .

GOOD NEWS!! I found a list of Summer 2014 anime with number of episodes and SAO II is listed as 25 episodes. I guess we get to see Mother's Rosario in this season.

We have the first episode title because:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.co.uk/en...=15804&page=25
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ne_II_episodes

"1. Sword Art Online II premiered in Tokyo MX's Saturday 23:30 (11:30pm JST) time slot.
2. The first episode was screened at special events held in the United States, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and Japan before the television premiere between June 29 and July 4, 2014."

1: "The World of Guns"
"Jū no Sekai" (銃の世界)

The real info source of the episode title is promotional passage given on publisher's online news site that have an article talking about the Japan premiere section.

Either way, the point is 2nd season is 2-cour instead of just 1-cour

At ANN they have this trivia:

In Episode 3, one of the avatars of the forum posters looks like an altered version of "Cactuar" (a monster npc and a "Guardian Force" entity from the game series "Final Fantasy") that looks a bit fatter with different hair and wears black sunglasses.

In episode 4, the game's "Photon Sword" is also referred to by the names "Laser Blade" and "Beam Saber", which are references to energy swords from Toei's Space Sherriff franchise and Sunrise's Mobile Suit Gundam respectively. The sounds made by the Photon Sword are also those made by the Light Sabers from the Star Wars franchise.
