Bleach (Anime) [Discussion]

I don't think anyone posted this yet...

Anyway, Bleach is going to be an anime, here's the official website:
http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/anime/bleach/

It starts 5/10/2004 I think...

This thread covers a lot of the series that are coming up soon, although I don't see why Bleach can't have it's own thread. I know I'm looking forward to it.

Spoiler for nothing much:

The main character is blond(ish) so people think he bleaches his hair like Japanese juvinile delinquents do. (He doesn't though.) That's where the title comes from.

It's a shounen action show with some comedy as well, something along the lines of Naruto or Fullmetal Alchemist.

What exactly did they do to Naruto? Follow the Manga to precisely? Have awesome voice actors? Or Make the Lee and Gaara fight to breathtaking for you?

They did a lot of things, like having piss-bad fillers (97 and 99), ruining some of the fights (Naruto vs Kiba in particular) and overall not being able to match up to the greatness of the manga. And they also did Midori no hibi, which is another series I felt they butched a lot.

Well what animation studio should've done it?
I don't think there are many animation studios that can do a 100+ episode series without having some variation in quality or adding in some fillers.
Besides in my opinion most animes don't match up to their originals anyway.

Pierrot is fine, they will make it a big hit. And it's not like anime is expected to be as good as manga anyway. But of course I'm still looking forward it, Bleach anime could be really good. At least the Grand Fisher arc.

the character designs closely resemble those of the manga (Rukia STILL looks a little too much like a boy)
i see this as possible becoming the next naruto/one piece/shaman king

It will probably be the next Shaman King. IMO, there are a lot of similarities between these two series. Eventually, both of them become mindless fighting series with nothing but fights and the occasional trainings. And both of them have fights that feature sudden ridicious power-ups and one-hit kills. Well, at least I liked Bleach a lot more than Shaman King....... it doesn't get as messy and repetitive as Shaman King.
As for anime series usually being inferior to the manga counterpart, it's a true fact. However, it doesn't have always have to be that way. Look at FMA, it's an example of a manga-to-anime being done right.

Although I don't have high opinions for Studio Pierrot (see Naruto), I must admit that they are quite suited for a long TV series which Bleach will most likely be. Sub-par art quality, but oh well...yay for animated action sequence!

Shay, you do give up too easily.

What most of the fans do not even consider the fact that the longer-running series will always compromise, either with filler or inconsistent animation or with some other factors. The reasons should be obvious with the example of the past. Animators can stay true to the script/manga if the show is consisted of no more than 26-52 episodes. Comparing small series with longer running series in the basis of "filler" and "animation inconsistency" is just using poor judgement where the lack of clear thinking is too obvious. Like someone suggested, not every studio will be able to handle big projects such as Naruto or One Piece. I suppose ignorance can be a bliss sometime. As far as I know, FMA is anything but staying true to the manga and the series is also supposed to conclude around the episode 52.

What I would like to understand is how the studio is going to handle another potentially longer-running series without compromising the overall quality of atleast one of the show. The workload should weigh a lot more for that studio compare to their current consignment.

Inu Yasha is going to be ending soon. That's Madhouse, I believe, but it will free up a lot of resources from Shounen Jump's budget to pour into the next smash hit.

Inuyasha is a Shonen Sunday(publisher Shogakukan) manga, not Shonen Jump(Shueisha)... And it's animated by Sunrise.

BTW next Shonen Sunday manga to be animated by Sunrise will be Yakitate!! Japan.

You're right. I hang my fanboy head in shame.

I don't think it'll be a problem though. Something will open up, and even if it doesn't, advertising revenue alone on a show like this will probably be enough.
