It's quite common for a 1st episode of second season of a TV series to be a recap. ZZ Gundam, Sailor Moon and other series did that.

**shrug**

You gotta realize that not all people who watch anime in Japan, or elsewhere, do it on a regular, semi-religious basis, and considering that watching reruns is not as convenient as watching fansubs, a recap is often in order.

It's annoying, but they've probably factored that in when they planned the season schedule, so there's no skin off our noses...

12 episodes left for season two and the first one is a recap? Wow, the
thing is going to be blazing by like a woodchuck on a stump.

Yeah, I admit I was disappointed that the first episode didn't even have an INKLING of new material. (I stayed up all night for it when I have work at 8AM!!! >o<)

Though wow, I think the new opening is better than the first one (possible?!).

To the NEXT episode, then!

That is simply SO disappointing. But maybe they have the story for just 12 episodes, and I don't really have a big ... problem ... with ... waiting ... for ... another ... week.
Maybe not.

Still, there was something new with it, like Takemoto getting a driver's license, for example.

Oh, I don't really mind if it was a recap or not. As long as I can see what I've dreamed of animated, which is
Spoiler for don't open unless you've read the manga or the manga thread of ASuki:

But seriously, I can't wait for the next episode. It took me some time to come back home, but I'm getting the raw right now.

Uh, npal, shouldn't you put that under a spoiler tag? I haven't read any of the manga spoilers yet, so I don't know what's going to happen, and with what you wrote:
Spoiler:

Anyway, I found that this was a very well-done recap episode. It refreshed my memory of the first season and made me realize that I missed many of the subtle aspects of the series. I like this season's opening theme better, and the ending theme is also very good. I can't wait to hear a full version of it. Did anyone else get feelings of nostalgia while watching this episode?

I'm not sure if this was intentional, but I noticed something interesting about the opening theme: the statue changed from money (a reference to Morita, possibly?) to an alloy of some type, to tree-like plants, to flowers, and then to honey (or maple syrup?). What I found interesting was that plants --> produce flowers --> produce honey. Not sure how the money and alloy would fit in, but it makes me wonder if the opening theme is supposed to have symbolism of some sort. But then again, it's probably just random materials that they chose.

I thought the OP sequence was in reference to their names/personalities or something.

ARGH! must....resist....spoilers.....*twitch*. I'm going to try and wait it out for subs to come up before I dive into this story again. As they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder........but it's oh so very hard .

Wasn't it odd that they removed the all the Yamada x Morita moments?

They probably didn't want to insinuate the probability of a MoritaxYamada relationship; perhaps they wanted them to be only friends.

Is there a Yamada x Morita relationship? Unless you mean their friendship and the fact that they can share intimate thought with each other. Other than that, I don't see any relationship, least of all romantic...

*patiently waiting for sub* Even though it's a recap, I still think it's absolutly worth it to download just to hear the new opening and ending songs--at least it is to me, and I haven't seen it yet.

When first watching the first episodes of Honey & Clover, I was stunned by how flat, how thoroughly unalive Hagu was, & I was convinced, based on that, that the manga had been written by a man. At the outset, Hagu seemed nothing but a doll & an aspiration for Takemoto & Morita. In the familiar quick whirl of 2's first episode, I recalled these feelings & realized that I warmed to her only so slowly through the course of the show, to this not-yet-woman whose narrow voice bends under the leaden yammering of promise & potential & future, whose quivering voice may lack the strength for even she herself to hear, to confirm. & I think to myself: Could this but be written by a woman? Yamada & Mayama are the highlight for me, too, yes, but I'd be inordinately pleased to see the real Hagumi (who is hidden somewhere in the reticent depths of the real Umino Chika, I must suppose).
