Considering the situation and his state of mind, any other attempt would sound "less logical". The use of geass is a pure emphasis of the desperate situation, trying to rely on something "more" than human means.

And frankly, putting pressure on such wounds is all meaningless.

nah, when someone is bleeding the first thing you do is try to stop it. Even in a desperate situation someone is more likely to try and keep the blood in with their hands even if they know it won't work.

Basically, Shirley explains she remembered of everything, that lelouch killed her father. nevetherless, she couldn't hate him after all.
After being "brainwashed", she says that she once again fell in love with him. Afterwards, she says that she would always love him, and dies while Lelouch is in his living hell, spamming Geass. (not too sure, as one listening isn't really enough)

In theory yes, but you cannot consider such behaviour as broad instinctive and immediate reaction.
Frankly, there were much more nutty case, as people trying to slap the victim cheeks to "keep him/her awake", others are poundering around, others are screaming for help or looking for help etc.
It may be a logical response to try to stop the hemorrhage, but that's not what people will always do.
