Thailand's parliament elects Yingluck Shinawatra as PM

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-14415077

Whatever we might think about Yingluck, she's one of the prettiest world leaders I can recall in some time. Hopefully, she can get the country to calm down and stop whacking each other.

Though I am more inclined to think that we need a reshuffle of the Diet when it comes to things like that - the lawmakers perception of blackwhite is no different from forcing their people to speak Ingsoc.

Where is the Sale of Goods Act enforcement of Section 12 when you need the right of quiet possession and use of your lolis?

What about Sarah Palin during your time (1980s)?

Too soon, she wasn't even involved with politics until the 90's That being said, you could argue she was quite a pretty lady.

Depends on the kind of witch. Monty Python ("burn her anyway"), Wizard of Oz ("I'm melting"), Umineko ("Witches exist"), or Madoka Magica (Magical girls to Witches cycle of universal suffering).

She is perhaps one of the most attractive world leaders out there, but I can't help but feel her familial ties with Thaksin Shinawatra compromises her integrity a bit, her election feels a bit too much like nepotism...

To mangle on old US Southern proverb: You can put lipstick on a pig but its still a pig... I can't find anything attractive about her. Dumb as mud, painted up, and a documented backstabber.

True, but some still lisen to her. I can't say who's worse; she or her followers.

Evidence Found Of Flowing Water On Mars

"NASA has found “circumstantial evidence” of liquid water flowing on the surface
of Mars at its southern mid-latitudes during the planet’s warmer spring and
summer months.

Images from the agency’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) show dark features
appearing and extending down steep slopes during the planet’s late spring and
summer, fading in winter, and returning the following spring."

Basically, the only thing they can think of that fits what they are seeing is saltwater (since it freezes at a lower temperature than fresh water). They wish they could explain what they see in another way, but nothing else is coming to mind.

it is nepotism but she was elected fairly and not place in power by a coup.

Well to think of it, the old majors love their sows, attractive or not.

Maybe it is the sunshine that melts the water for it to flow, and when it orbits into the dark side, the water freezes up again?

just out of curiosity, did the SEC ever open a inquiry into the AAA rating for the junk mortgage security by the Credit Rating Company.

If the SEC haven't, i think this is a good time to start one.

Not surprising. What should have been a simple procedural matter for congress was artificially turned into a crisis that nearly brought the world's economy crashing down. It's hard to make an argument that the US deserves a AAA rating after something like that.

By all rights, it should have been downgraded in 2007 during the collapse or way back when we started fighting wars off the budget with no funding ... but as we're seeing, the rating companies occupy no special place on Mount Olympus. They were coddling along with the Bush administration, they've been absurd on Europe, they favor economic policies that are ruinous for the middle class and poor, and they made a ridiculous $2 trillion dollar error in their decision in the US rating. When caught on it, they sidestepped and ramble about it being an assessment of politics.... really? then why didn't they say that first, eh?

Time to end America’s two-party system?

There's always the possibility of a minority gouvernment with a third party...
