My current favorites are Celty, Shizuo (vending machine-tan), Shina (last guy shown in the op), and Namie (cellphone lady in the OP who is far more crazy than she lets on), Also Im 90% sure that Miyuki Sawashiro is the next-episode narrator, Celty's voice perhaps? Or does she never talk?

It's kinda worse than reading Kindaichi and your friend tells you who the murderer is (because even if you knew the murderer you don't know how s/he did it) because ... well you can find out yourself =) But Iron Maw did say read at your own risk so ... just my 2c. Indeed. |

Did anyone spot this?
http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/8572/drrrgoth.jpg Looks like she might be an important character since she's actually colored. |

Yea think everyone would have spotted her
I thought she would be a part of the cast since she was coloured in also but then I don't recall seeing anything of her after that scene or in the OP and ED, unless I missed something.

My opinion on Durarara: I watched Baccano before, so Durarara gives me a similar wacky experience. Can't wait for the next episode! |

Oh good, I saw her too and it was only after I saw the subs that I realized she wasn't the girl who was kidnapped. Are the animators messing with us or will she become a real character?

I think the man Mikado bumped into is in color just because he got into close proximity with the main character. You couldn't have a nameless person bump into the character without him being in gray though? And right immediately after that, the next scene shows the man back in gray when Mikado attempted to apologise for bumping him.
The girl may turn out just a faceless and nameless person after all. Mikado just took a look at her when he discussed with Masaomi about "Ikebukuroians". I guess the anime studio think he couldn't look at a gray-colored character, so they animated her in color. |

Intriguing characters (along with their designs for that matter), interesting premise, catchy music, cool setting....now was that so hard? See they still make shows like these. Anyway watch out for Russian African American's, guys throwing vending machines and headless bikers kids.

Love the 1st episode! It certainly has that Baccano vibe which makes me quite excited and impatient with this anime. I reckon this type of anime is better watched in one go but it'll be hard to resist watching each week....

With that character design and style i woudnt mind even if Durarara!! were a simple slice of life show without any major story heh. Just watching the cast of characters and their interaction would be interesting enough.
