Sometimes some absentminded people don't read some warnings, read the spoilers and begin to complain about why I post those things.
Well, since that incident didn't happen in AS, I don't have a problem posting here.
Here I go.
Spoiler for VOL 13 SPOILERS:
The final battle happens in the "Gate". The mission is to capture it and stop the beetle's final invasion. The people going to the final battle are Squad E601, Chloe, Leyseritt, Aria and Emily.
During the battle, Kanata and Zeth begin a 1-on-1 duel, while the girls try to stop the beetles. Each one of them shined in their battle, and Misora confessed her feelings to Kanata. Then, she gets injured. Kanata powers up and orders them to retreat.
He continues fighting Zeth and he wins. But, the Gate traps him and sends a light that begins to cover the entire world. He observes his students, smiles and everything in front of him dissapears with that light.
A timeskip happens. After half a year Chloe and Lloyd receive a document. It was Kanata's. They do not remember him.
After the final battle, Leyseritt, Aria and Emily were admitted as students in Mystogan. Squad E601 were promoted to the Royal Guard. The unanimously refused, but at the beginning of the year they got promoted to C601. During those six months, the squad didn't have an instructor.
During the first classification battle, the girls win their first fight. A person with dark hair was observing their fight. They do not recognize him and think he was a weird guy. That guy was Kanata.
Kanata was reading some documents and he meets Chloe. She asks him if he's lost. She stills does not remember him.
With this, Kanata confirms that everyone forgot about him. He's sad because even his childhood friend didn't recognize him, and he explains about the papers he was holding (it was a letter of recommendation).
At the end of the volume, Squad C601 were asking themselves who was their new instructor. They notice the same weird guy entering the class. He presents himselfs and says "I'm Kanata Age".

The girls were training with Kanata, as always, watching them on his Houki. He remembers about the time when he was called a traitor and his squad was an F ranked group.
After their training, the girls complain about their progress. They want to beat a record, but they can't. Kanata tells them that he has a Special Training for that, and they accept.
Kanata rents a new room and tells the girls to live there for a while. Since the room was dirty, they had to clean it up. Misora and Rico begin to fight, while Lecty tries to calm them down. She notices that their Special Training was about teamwork, she tries to explain them. After the ruckus, they proceeded to clean the room.
After cleaning the room, they talk about Kanata while they are cooking.
The other day, during their training Kanatas provokes the squad and teaches them about teamwork.
Yuri became a writer, with Yuri Florence being her pseudonym. She wrote a romantic book called "My Teacher" and she was signing autographs. Lloyd becomes her producer. He was the one who noticed her talent.
Kanata sees a new pamphlet in his desk. It was about Yuri's debut as a writer. He says he wants to read her new book. The girls wants the same. They arrive to Yuri's place. Misora does not recognize her (because her outfit changed). Lloyd makes fun of her.
The other day Lecty joined a mascot contest, so she brought Piyo-chan.
Rico's mother appears. They become astonished because Rico was using honorifics.

Misora and Lecty were talking about their new instructor. They do not know the reason of his appearance in Mystogan, but they feel that somehow they know/saw him before.
The other day, the girls question Kanata and they meet Leyseritt. She remembers him.
Aria befriends her, but she doesn't remember Kanata.
In this part, it is become known that Kanata survived the Gate's trap, but he was gravely injured. Ellis rescues him and he is treated for half a year.
Emily is also with Leyseritt, but she was in her small form.
Kanata talks with them, and tells them about a method to make more friends, and they were interested. He suggests them to make a new squad.
He meets Chloe again. She feels weird. It was the second time they meet, but she believes she talked with him way before their "first" meeting.
After that meeting, Kanata and the new squad fights squad C601. He makes some orders to the new squad and they rapidly gained and advantage. Misora and the girls, after seeing his tactics with the new team, feel as if they heard those orders before.
They also began to call him like they used to do it, but they still don't understand what was happening.
After the battle, the girls take a shower. They don't feel that weird sensation anymore and they feel okay with calling him like they did.
Noelle appears again. She was in charge of an exhibition battle in Mystogan when she read the participants. She notices the words "Kanata Age". She does not remember him.
In Mystogan, Freon and Miina talk about Rico.
In Bebel, Ellis was invited to Riba's residence to talk about the exhibition battle. Ellis was requested to be Chris' bodyguard.
The night before the match, Kanata was eating with Chloe and the girls. Misora and Yuri offer him a sandwich. He notices that their relationship changed a lot.
During the day of the match, the girls began to feel weird again when they were at Kanata's side. Misora and Yuri say that when they see him, their hearts began to beat faster. They decided to give their all in the battle for him.
Riba, Ellis, Noelle, Freon arrive just to see the battle. They still do not recognize Kanata.
The match was Kanata and his squad (Chloe, Aria, Lloyd and Leyseritt) vs C601.
Kanata gives the orders to his squad and the girls gained the upper hand. The spectators were impressed and they didn't know why Kanata was so happy.
They noticed that Kanata was the one who invited them to the match so they can try to remember him or at least make new memories with him.
During the climax of the battle, Misora and Yuri attack him. He notices that they still have the same determination as before. He congratulates them and concedes the match.
He, along with the two girls, left the colosseum and went to buy some ice cream. Misora asks him if he loved someone. He told her that used to love someone, and he's waiting to meet her again.
They ask Yuri the same question. She says that in the past she felt that she loved someone, but she not interested in those things now.
After a pause she tells them that she doesn't mind loving the same guy again.
After another big pause, Misora and Yuri says to him that they want to stay by his side. Kanata observes them and says that they always do what they want.
As I said before, not the kind of happy ending I was expecting. In fact, many spanish speakers were pretty upset with this kind of ending and they are hoping that in the SS they remember him

About the ending, I have seen open-ended harem endings and they are enough for me to pull my hair out. Even if you forget the harem aspect, this was a really terrible and sad ending.
Riba Andycowes. IIRC he was the son of Bebel's spokesman.
I dont have any info about vol 9-12. Maybe the TL group posted something about it.
About the girls...

I dont know about the girls, but I think I have a clue about who is the girl of the right. At first I thought it was Miena Purpleton, but since her eye color is different I dont think it is her. It is probably Elise because she looks a lot like the girl from the cover in vol. 9 (which I can certainly say that it is her)

the SS vol is a limited edition electronic vol and looks like it begins the day before Kanata got labelled as 'traitor'. The time when he was still famous as the 'Black Master Swordsman'.
In Vol 14 illustrations. In one of the last one, it shows Kanata with the others but didn't this story ended up with bitter sweet one? where he was forgotten by everyone.
man look at those pics really make me wish that one group was still tranlating this. the girls look amazing compare to the anime counter parts and the story seems good overall.
