The war at Marineford wasn't the most accurate way of gauging how powerful the elites are. Lots of fights got interrupted. And there's also the fact that the WB pirates were trying to rescue Ace and not battle the marines to the death.

this is anime though, manga artists rarely give their older characters younger-looking faces. most of the time they even look older for their age. zoro and sanji didn't look 19 to me, they looked much older. i initially thought them to be in their early 20s until i saw their character profiles.

Am I the only one who was kind of disappointed? The animation wasn't really that great, especially for Sanji's skywalk. It was kind of annoying with the flashbacks too. The manga had small quotes from the characters which reference their training, but in the anime, they were long ass flashbacks that interrupted the action. I'm just really sick of those flashbacks because they show the same scenes we've seen alot. We had to sit through like 6 eps of flashbacks before we even got to the timeskip.
SHit this is so frustrating!! I would rather have the fillers back rather than this crappy Animation!!! the animation was so slow-based i wanted to punch the animators in the face!

LOL Yes, I thought the flashbacks interrupting the fights were quite jarring and destroyed the mood of the fight. It went from exciting music to total opposite just like that. Then they tried to bring back the excitement afterwards, but you feel so rejected from the last change to get that excitement back.
One Piece fillers have always been quite good, relative to the other major shounen show fillers, so it is definitely more welcomed. Considering how long they drag out each episode, I wonder if this arc will last another 20 episodes.

My favorite part of the episode? Luffy all happily amazed at the new Sunny-go weapons and forgetting about the fight, with Zoro yelling at him to get back in the fight. That is so Luffy.
The Kraken probably felt safer and happier with Luffy as well. I'm still waiting for Vanderdekken to come in and ruin the party. I still believe Shirahoshi will eventually use her powers at some point in this battle.

Everyone has become awesomely strong, it's amazing to watch them fight.
Sunny's new weapons revealed. Well, everyone sure was thrilled by the new modifications. The bike and tank were pretty cool ^^ That kraken Surume was a nice surprise, especially since it turned out to be Luffy's friend.

And it was a shame that the new fisherman pirates was so weak without the stereopills tho. I think they should put out 2 episodes next week since they didn't put one out last sunday :/

Episode 557 was great. Franky was funny, but Nami, Chopper, and Usopp did not really stand out too much.
Now, Luffy is finally getting into the spirit of things. I can't wait until he kicks Hody's butt... wait, he just did. As expected, Noah's ark is finally arriving to spoil the fun. How are they going to stop that monstrosity? I am guessing its original purpose was to transport the people of the island to the surface. Now, it can potentially destroy the island. All part of the prophecy, I guess?
