The End of Pocket Monsters Advanced Generation Era
I have finished watching the last episode of the Battle Frontier, meaning the overall series finale for the Advanced Generation era.
Honestly, I draw parallels when Ash start his Johto Journey just as he's starting his Journey to Shinou. Spoiler:

To your second question: no. To your third question: it was just a detour visit. Spoiler:
Don't forget that Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl starts the last Thursday of September, premiering on a 90-minutes special; the first three episodes will be broadcasted. |

Pokemon is the little boy equivalent of Hello Kitty ... it... just... won't... go... away...
Somewhat of a shame because the series had some potential but they got stuck in the weekly MOTW grind and neutered Team Rocket. Yet another 30 minute commercial... (yes, most anime is a "commercial" but some commercials are much better than others )

The filler grind seemed to die down during the Battle Frontier arc, where we had some of the best storylines we've seen for a while (And I believe Satoshi losing twice in a row to Jindai is a first), and we've had a few significant developments in the realm of....would you call it character development or plot? ^^;; Basically, Satoshi and Haruka are apparently now household names thanks to their achievements, to the point where they had a Nurse Joy wanting their signatures. About time this kid who saved the world a few times got some recognition, wouldn't you agree?
The Pokémon fandom of late has been surprisingly active, with the release of Mysterious Dungeon in English, and the release of the Diamond/Pearl games and anime this week in Japan. It's a bit nostalgic, really. Reminds one of the release of Ruby & Sapphire, all those years ago. |

Seriously, it's sad when people think that Gary, a character that shows up 1/100 shows or so is MUCH cooler than the main character (I am not denying this fact, b/c although I haven't watched any pokemon for years I still think Gary>Ash = True).
That says something, I think. |
