I'll also like to take this chance and remind people not to derail topics by posting about posters and questioning why they start the threads they do. Use the report button instead if you believe something needs to be done about it.

I really, honestly do feel sorry for people who feel that modern anime isn't catering to their tastes any more. I really do. It sucks when you really enjoy something and then find that trends shifted and that thing you used to like is no longer in style any more the way you thought it used to be. But, by the same token, that's part of life. Things change, and sometimes in ways that aren't to your liking. And you either have to sift through the rough to find the diamonds that remain (and then cherish them all the more), or you just have to honour the memory of what came before and move on. Maybe modern anime isn't generally for you. And maybe a time will come in the future when it'll change again in a way that you like. But in the end, it isn't just about you (or any one of us on our own).

I can empathise with the frustration, but dwelling on it isn't going to help. Creating a thread with the goal of finding allies in your frustration isn't going to be too terribly fruitful, because it stands to reason that most of the people who hang out on anime forums today have something connecting them to modern anime beyond frustration. Perhaps, though, some who feel the same frustration can contact you privately. I have to think there has to be at least a few social groups for "old school" anime fans, some of whom are still finding shows today that meet their expectations.

If anyone actually wants suggestions of modern anime that meets the criteria espoused in the thread, check out the Suggestions forum.
