Also, how does the fact that the Twins aren't there affect how the later fights (Signum vs Fate and Nanoha vs Vita on those other worlds) plays out? Or how, when the Wolkenritter were trapped in that field, how Shamal fired that spell when Chrono was hunting her down without the Twins to help her out?

They changed a bit the fights, to accomodate the omission of the characters. Also other minor figths like the first battle with the Volkenritter (pre-Raising Heart / Bardiche upgrade) was modified:

In A's, Nanoha, despite being badly hurt, manages to destroy the barrier before Shamal can actually finish her work on her. In the movie, it doesn't happen. Both Fate and Nanoha suffer a complete defeat AND the Volkenritter manage to do what they planned.

I visit it from time to time (every two years, usually). And to remain on topic, I took a photo at the ticket when I went to see it:



There were was a coupon campaign for multiple viewings of the movie (I was actually asked if I was interested), but I found the idea questionable.

First of all the negatives: despite being a movie, there were (not sure in the BD version) some noticeable drops in quality in a few scenes. While nothing spectacular, they really stood out.

If the DvD/BD fixes anything, it would likely be that. Pretty sure the first movie fixed those issues, for the most part.

Well, I can’t wait to see the movie. A’s was the best season of the anime all things consider and we already saw the 1st Movie doing it just fine. Most complains so far seem the reduction of the role in minor and supporting cast which is nothing I really care that much, Hayate, the Wolkenritter, Nanoha and Fate are the ones that will carry the story as protagonist and antagonist so as long as they get them right other flaws in the story telling can be forgiven.

The complaints would be the plotholes left behind by missing side characters.
- How Hayate lived alone (before Wolkenritter)
- How Shamal fired off her spell without support.

Actually, the most important one for me would be how the book goes berserk. In the series it was because the Lieze twins filled the last two pages with the knights and tricked Hayate into wishing for the book's activation. From what I heard so far, it seems to go berserk in the movie "just because."

But those things aren’t important. How Hayate lives alone and why the book goes berserker doesn’t really matter as much as what those elements do in the story. If you really need to nitpick about it those two can be answer in a single line by any character or we can wait and see. The thing will be that does elements don’t come in so freely as one might think. The Book shows in the end is sentient and broken on that so the book might just detect time is running out and take the knights lives to end the program. And about Hayate we already say how she could live alone without Graham.

So, without those elements, what can we really say to complain about the Movie? I hear some people complain about Fate being more focus on the Movie 1st and now here the same but I don’t see that as a problem.

That's like saying a character's backstory and motivations aren't important.

Oh, wait, they cut those out for Nanoha in the 1st Movie!

Hear that, everyone? Sansker's right! We don't need a character's backstory to understand them! We don't even need their motivations for doing something! We just need to see what's on the screen and any understanding of a character is just pointless!

We already know it has issues. We know some characters get shafted in the development and backstory area, to the benefit of other characters. Some people can ignore them, some would prefer a more balanced approach. However, the movie is made, and thus ain't gonna change. We can only hope that any animated materials that come next (whether another movie or a series) treat characterization more equally.

At least the effects will be decent.

Hayate saw the Defense Program (instead of the fake Nanoha and Fate) destroy the Knights and she lost her mind to despair. She was then absorbed into the book and the Consciousness of the Book of Darkness wanted to fulfill the last requests of her and her Knights. 1. To ‘destroy’ the harsh reality that took away her Knights and 2. To rid the hindrance of Nanoha and Fate (from allowing the Knights to fill up the pages of the book). But technically speaking, Reinforce, the Knights and Hayate were aware of the Defense Program. Why didn’t the CotBoD take that into consideration before acting out the final two requests or direct that anger and hatred towards the Defense Program? Well, I suppose you could say that the CotBoD was technically a ‘tool’ and only acted upon the final requests of the Knights and Hayate, despite them knowing about the program.

That.... That makes no sense at all.

In the series, Reinforce wanted to remove Nanoha and Fate because they caused Hayate despair (from Hayate's perspective).

Here, well... WHY?!

Sheesh! This goes against EVERYTHING that the series had!

Does this mean that Hayate KNEW about the Linker Core collecting as well?

To be fair Reinforce did knew Nanoha and Fate didn’t kill the knights in the series. Also we all have seen the guys who just go out and destroy everything because they are sad. I don’t see that as a plot hole, depending on how is handle.

IIRC, in the original season, it wasn't so much as Reinforce trying to kill Nanoha and Fate, but the Automatic Defense Program, which was a separate entity from Reinforce (it just looked like her). Reinforce's dialogue implied that she didn't want to kill Nanoha. It's further reinforced (*sigh* puns) by Hayate apologizing and saying farewell to the ADP before the Triple Breaker.

In any case they can say the same here. The Defense Program, Reinforce and the Wolkenritter seem to be different entities. However Reinforce was talking with Nanoha while fighting her so is not clear how much she and the Defense Program were mix there.
