We still don't know if Sanada has bionic limbs in this series. It would seem like it given how often her was still standing when everyone else in the room would fall down from an impact.

17 decks. If I don't miss my guess, she's not all that much bigger than Yamato. Wider, yes, but not taller, nor much longer.

AAA-0001?

As for her blind spot, she always had that....most of the ships in Yamato have a forward blind spot or some other random piece of structure that would block their guns. Several Gamilas ships have this problem as well. Most compensate somehow for it by never flying directly bow on at the target. Always a slight angle. It also could be the little hole in the bow could be a single gun barrel to compensate for the single blocked one from A turret. X and Y turrets have the aft fins blocking their arcs and potential broadside.

Thank you for that.
The AAA-01 (Advanced Ability Armament-001) may indicate that the Andromeda is part of a new fleet different from the fleet of 2201 and prior (like the other new ships that resemble the older ships from prior to 2199).
I obviously do not know, however, I am willing to speculate that the writers of this new incarnation of Yamato are making the technological developments make far more sense than the original show.
Hopefully, we will see destroyers (like Yukikaze), Cruisers, and battleships like the Kirishima at the start of this series (only with shock cannons, Gershon Drives, and other Gamilas tech improvements), and then by the end of the new series we see the Andromeda and her fleet of advanced ships of the 2202+ era. That would be a nice treat for the fans since it would show a definite technology development from the old fleet to the new.

I should clarify by saying this is the image that has me leaning towards my speculations about the new show.

The top ship clearly has "2201" in its tail number.
I don't know if that is a production year or a refit year, but I would wager it is a year that this ship was either built or refit/upgraded.

Does anyone feel ambitious enough to try to scale both this latest image of Andromeda with Yamato to see just how they compare. I know here is a Yamato 2202 version of Yamato on the official website in the same style as this Andromeda.

Yamato being 333 meters long.

Now that this official image is out, we can compare it with my drawings. And by looking at the two, apart from some minor differences in the miscellaneous things the major difference is the shape of the underbelly of the nose section (the Wave Motion gun section) and the main Tachyon intake (The big radiator like things) on the main hull after the auxiliary engine section.
Though the secondary barrel-less gun turrets on the sides are on different heights as well

So I'm proud that my drawing is damn close to this version!

A little more detailed than before, but not all that different. The questions will be about the details. Specifically defenses and size of her fighter wing.

And her overall size, though I don't imagine she's all that much larger than Yamato from what we can think we see in the scaling. Maybe 350 meters long to Yamato's 333 meters? Be only about an inch longer in 1/1000th scale and comparable to the more common Gamilas battleships.

Andromeda looks to be quite a bit larger than Yamato, I'd say around 400 meters long.

Anyway, Serizawa somehow escaped being thrown in jail, and there appears to be a Gamilon in a suit behind him. Kodai and Nanbu also seem to be on the bridge of a Kongou-class battleship. Very interesting.

What can we piece together from these images and what is known about the time period and the older 1978 film and series?

Kodai appears to be in command of an old style battleship of the Kongo-class, which is likely now a small ship, since it is roughly equivalent to a Gamilas cruiser. The Kirishima's captain (who was captain of the Yamato in the film "Be Forever, Yamato") is seen, but I can't define were he is aside that he seems to be in a spaceship's chair. I think he might have been promoted to Admiral since he was likely the only remaining full captain in the fleet, at the end of the war. There appears to be a Gamilas observer at Earth HQ. Yuki is back to her old job. Kodai appears to be witnessing the power of a wave motion gun from the outside (likely used against a large Cometine battleship). This might be his first encounter with Andromeda or one of the other new Earth warships that has a wave motion gun (against the treaty with Iscandar). But if there is a Gamilas observer, they know about the wave motion guns already, so its fine. The character notes say that Kodai is part of a combined Frontier Fleet with the Gamilas Navy, so we should expect to see more Earth and Gamilas ships working together this series, though also the chance of a vengeful Gamilas commander being assigned to hunt down a rogue Yamato, who won't take a recall order seriously over his vengeance.

Also Andromeda is larger than Yamato...there is a picture of the two together for the advanced ticket sales. the perspective is weird, but she should be upwards of 400 meters long to Yamato's 333 meters long.

I wonder about the exterior of Kodai's ship. The notes keep calling it a destroyer, but what we get from the interior looks like an old Kongo-class battleship.

Perhaps with the restructuring of the UNCN to EDF they reclassified it as a destroyer, considering both classes of Gamilas cruisers outmass and outsize the battleship. Certainly precedent for it in real life.

I agree. That seems to be the most logical explanation. The United States did something similar in the 1970s, so it stands to reason that the UNCF might do the same thing, especially if they are in the middle of a major rearmament to deal with Gatlantis (which they are aware of).

On the other hand, today the JMSDF call just about any warship an "escort", which usually gets translated to "destroyers" in the west. Even the new Helicopter Destroyer Kaga.
