Magnificent actor. Rest in peace, Severus.

Alan Rickman, one of the best-loved and most warmly admired British actors of the past 30 years, has died in London aged 69. His death was confirmed on Thursday by his family who said that he died “surrounded by family and friends”. Rickman had been suffering from cancer.

R.I.P

Ok, what is going on?!
First it was Lemmy Kilmister from Motorhead, then it was David Bowie and now it's Alan "Snape" Rickman!?
What a bad start 2016 is becoming.

While it may not have registered overly much outside of Ireland, one role which he was particularly notable for there was as Éamon de Valera in the 1996 film Michael Colliins.

No way.
First David Bowie, now Alan Rickman?
I for one will miss Alan.
He was an excellent performer in my opinion.

Most will remember him for Professor Snape or Hans Gruber, but my favorite role of his was Dr. Lazarus from Galaxy Quest.

By Grabthar's hammer, by the suns of Worvan, you shall be avenged.

Well... my day has now take a sad turn, he was great as Professor Snape (I've been re-watching the movies recently only have Deadly Hollows parts 1 and 2 left to watch) and in Galaxy Quest which is one of my favorite spoof movies, he will be missed dearly.

I've seen only a few of his movies, with his role as Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movies being the one I'm most familiar with.

And now this-

It has been a bad couple of months for celebrity deaths. There was David Bowie and Alan Rickman most recently, and then there was Lemmy and also Scott Weiland in December (lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots). R.I.P. to every one of them.

The first major natural hump for the Baby Boomers, making it to 70. My parents will be doing that this year.

Rickman was always interesting to watch. He'll be missed.

Of course, my set of three is more of a "movies with a cult following" set consisting of Rickman (the Harry Potter sereis), Bowie (Labyrinth), and Angus Scrimm (Phantasm).

That performance was particularly good too.

Still, my first and fondest memory of Alan Rickman in his filmwork was as Hans Gruber. It really speaks volumes about his talent when his first film appearance made such an everlasting impression among the top 100 villains in film, and yet he had to wait in his early 40s to have that first chance in the movie industry.

R.I.P.
