Oh yes... Let's see them experience a bunch of mis identifications with some other band and end up on the main stage at Glastonbury. Yeah.. That'll be interesting

They are five under-18 girls, only one of whom can be confused with a Westerner under ideal conditions. How many bands can they be misidentified with?

Actually, the four main girls are all 18 when they make this trip.

It's a movie !!! These things happen in movies. Otherwise there wouldn't be a movie.

Also, one has to remember that Mugi herself is rather short (if I remember right, she's barely 150+ cm), so unless the average height for teenagers in England is actually shorter than what I thought, it's going to be hard to mistake even her for a native.

This is why I find it a little bizarre there's not more mainstreaming of anime... though K-On! apparently is making the leap to mainstream in many respects... which has me wondering if a live-action K-On! is down the road.

I wonder if it is the mainstreaming (as oppose to winning a bit in the last two years) that is hurting their chances in Saimoe.

Live Action...Well I know there are H live actions. lol j/k

But it'll be pretty hard to get 15-16 year old girls actress to play K-on, because they really need to know how to play musical instruments and look like their anime counter part.

Being that said DMC-Detroit Metal City is by far imho the best anime to live action. If they can pull off something like that it would be awesome.

Edit:

Disney japan airs K-on!

You can't expect K-ON! to dominate each and every year, even if it's a popular franchise.

And why do people even care that much about it in the first place? It's a popularity contest, nothing more.

Have you ever watched Swing Girls most girls didn't know a thing about musical instruments when they auditioned for the parts.

They managed to get the main cast voice actresses of the anime to a passable level of proficiency at playing musical instruments, and only one of them had anything remotely resembling instruction in instrumental music. So it wouldn't be impossible to start out with actresses whose only musical inclination is in singing, and transform them into adequate studio musicians. And besides, I'm certain that there are probably already quite a few aspiring young actresses out there who have some familiarity with musical instruments.

And, besides, music is sortof just a background part of K-ON! anyway. It's mostly about the girls doing girly things like drinking tea, setting up pranks, and seeing who can come up with the most groan-worthy pun. A live-action mainstream K-ON! could totally get away with having actresses who don't really know what they're doing (for most of the season, anyway) by pulling all the same tricks KyoAni did, to save money and animator sanity, in avoiding showing the girls at work as much as possible.

The Keihan Otsu line is probably one of the lowest cost trains for promotion. The usage of the line is to pay homage to the school used for design inspirations in the anime which is close to Otsu. http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%81%...88.9E.E5.8F.B0

In many ways this is a viral promotion wanting people to post a vid and pictures on the internet which will rake in more publicity than they had invested in buying out a single set to run until the movie starts which is probably around 5~8 million yens or 60~100 thousand US dollars in which I estimate they gained 5~50 million US dollars in promotion depending on where to draw the line.

Um.. Swing Girls? All you'd have to do is make some skill with instruments part of the audition or the willingness to learn. The rest is special effects

Swing girls were awesome! Also was DMC referenced in K-ON!? (dmc is pretty brutal) A live action movie would be pretty interesting.
