I hope 23 episodes only cover up to sennin war arc (or up to the end of In arc) not the entire manga.

Let the final arc get its own 12 episodes or something.

Only 23?! Isn't that the actual length of the manga?

Also, all the character designs seem like "younger" when compared to the first anime

Two adaptations and they're both trash? Disappointing.

it is during these hours that a competent director is essential. Moreover, after Houzuki, nothing prevents it from being a divided season.

That's a fair point. If they split it in half 23 episodes is definitely enough to cover one hundred chapters if you're careful. Magi and JoJo did it without much issue.

*sweating* Even the 27 volume long FMA manga was adapted into 64 episodes. I haven't watched Hozuki but I hope the staff members are highly aware of the manga's length.

Episode 1:

This was an interesting episode. From that catchy OP song to the character cast and colorful world setting, it seems like a show that I think has a lot of potential.

The way they introduced the characters so far is interesting, almost all of them stand out in some way or another especially Dakki with her dark intentions. I'm even interested in knowing more about Taikoubou with his character role.

Overall, interesting stuff. I like the Chinese style of the setting as well.

Never read the source material or the previous anime, but I like what I'm seeing so far. Character designs and animation seemed clunky, but there was plenty of good humor, action, and music. Definitely a keeper.

The Series was different(of course is a remake) that remember, more on the comedy side(or maybe the original was more good with their melodrama) but still just like remembered, pretty good, so we going to get the truth ending here.

for all dubs and subs...translated the titles, i remember the original(they keep the proper historical title in spanish equivalent) but the new ones are incomplete, use the proper translation(great general, governator, etc)

I had this feeling Ep01 was kinda rushed.
Is any Manga Reader here? If yes, could you please confirm or not if it was rushed?

And BTW, how would the title be translated more literally? Instead of Soul Hunter...

Your not the only one. The first half wasnot too bad, but it felt like some material was rushed through in the second half.

Yes, the first episode skimmed through the first volume and a bit of the second volume of the manga.
Spoiler for What is skipped:

Yes, many things were skipped, but I can understand why they did it.
This, after all, is just the prologue where Taikobo tried to confront Dakki for the first time and failed miserably. Spending two or more episodes in it is a bad idea.
Now we move to the main story, I believe it will slow down.

God Sealing Saga? Or Romance of God Sealing ("romance" as in Romance of the Three Kingdoms)

Mother of all expositions! The setting, Taikobo's past, Supushan out of nowhere, Dakki, Koh Hiko, etc. If it weren't for the fact I watched the first series as a kid, then I would be completely lost XD Even the first anime's first episode ended with Shinkoyo taking down Taikobo rather than Taikobo's journey

At least the animation is epic.

BTW, how did Shinkoyo discover so quickly he was in the Project Hoshin and that Taikobo was the user? And episode 1 and Taikobo already feels that he will never win

The old anime is as slow as the manga, but on the other hand it only managed to adapt the first half and had an original ending.
So I just can't like it, since the second part of Houshin Engi is the most epic shit I've ever read, with awesome characters and plot twists.

Or you could just go by its original source
