I'm not sure why my laptop keep crashing though. I tried re-install the game... not working. Tried format my laptop, also not working. Capping frame rate didn't work too. Installing new drivers cause nothing... Well, I just wish my laptop would be able to play the full game.

This is the cheesiest strategy ever. And fun as hell to watch. It should be noted this is Platinum level play, which makes it all the more ridiculous. |

Map: blistering sands What happens: protoss goes and makes pylon right next to terran CC. Probe waddles around and around and plants a gateway and another pylon as resources allow, and then chrono-boosts zealots (right in the terran's main), as terran barracks aren't up in time. One zealot pops out, and then another. Now that's what I call a zealot RUSH.

Terran was too busy loling to defend; actually that does remind me of something. The T should have attacked the gateway since new pylons can warp in fast. Of course, anyone could be caught off guard by this if they weren't attentive.

The counter to this strategy is to simply attach only one scv to the probe and ignore it, then build a marine and bunker right next to the Gateway spot. The zealot wont be able to kill it in time. |

You need to kill the gateway; just a few scvs on the gateway. The protoss will be far behind if he is unable to put up a gateway because his tech (and units) will be behind even if you get money back for canceling. (The pylons will also be lost once it fails)
If you let zealots come out, you're going to lose. A zealot can shrug off marine fire, and nail scvs out of the bunker's range. A single marine in a bunker is not gonna stop you from losing scvs which is gonna effect your economy in the long run.

No, that doesn't work. You would think it does but it doesn't. That's actually the main strength of that strategy, people's kneejerk panic response to it is to think they can stop it by massing the building with workers.
In reality, the amount of workers needed to kill the building for the time it takes them to kill it actually costs more than it does for the protoss to create the building in the first place. This means they are losing the macro game. Plus, if it gets bad enough the protoss player can actually cancel the building before creation and gain some of the money back, while all the time spent with workers attacking the gateway that could have been spent gaining eco is wasted. Trust me on this. I was the protoss player in that video. I've used that strategy many times. The players that go nuts with their workers ( like the terran in that vid did ) in response always lose. The players that keep their cool and see the flaw in trying to build in the enemy base almost always fight it off. |

As you said, people lose because they overreact. You don't need to grab a whole bunch of workers-- just a few scvs working on the gate is enough. Even if you are cancelling your stuff, it takes time to rebuild your stuff. A few workers loss of mining time isn't gonna slow them down that badly to get say, reapers in.
But if you say the best thing is to just ignore the thing; I guess I'll have to find out. ;p

Hmm, guess I'll have to test it out. edit: It takes at least 4 scvs to take down a gateway before a chronoed zealot comes out. In most situations, a 5th one will probably be needed once it warps in; since the probe will probably be harassing.
But enough theorycrafting-- I do get your point. I remember winning games just by building pylons in people's bases XD.

Just build an Engineering Bay and then a Planar Fortress 8D Then excuse me while I drop 2 Autoturrets in your mineral line.
But honestly the cheesiest strategy is on Scrap Station, build a Barracks and an Engineering Bay, float over with both CC and Barracks to your opponents base, land your CC in the middle of his base and build a Planar Fortress while mining his minerals to build marines from the Barracks. I'm so going to try that one day. |

Block the Gateway locations with SCVs. Outflank the probe and kill it then worry about other things.
Probes are really hard to kill because if they run long enough their shields come back up ps. LOL @ 8bit starcraft vid!
