That is like saying hey girl, you kill my father, try to kill me, and my squad multiple time and I try to go after you for vengeance as well even if it kill me. But I will forgive you if we bang.

Yeah... Not happening in this series... plus, I think Mary should be older then Tanya so I doubt a Rom-Com is even possible.

There are plenty with big age gaps.

Mary Sue dies pretty brutally in the WN. The LN may differ on this later on (Cause Mary is still alive in the LN), but apparently in the WN, Mary Sue gets no redemption and gets killed pretty brutally.

Apparently because Mary was so hooked on revenge against Tanya and was too much of a wild card, she became a threat to the peace talks, so the top brass of her own army had her killed so that she wouldn't get in the way of it.

I won't go into how they killed her, its too brutal.

@guestuser I don't know about the kids part. But the LN might have her survive and beat Being X. I also like the idea of creating a novel that's focused on one of mages after the war.

Okay, for those who want to know. TV tropes doesn't actually go into detail about what happens, however this is what her description says.

"She meets a horrific end in the Web Novels. With Upper Brass knowing she's a threat to peace talks, she's tricked and betrayed by her own allies who, filled with so much hate for her, literally butcher her into chunks of meat."

Furthermore, the reason why the allies hate Mary so much is because even though she's loyal to her country, she's also naive and insubordinate and is difficult to control because of her berserker abilities. This is especially true when she's fighting Tanya. She was also probably cold towards her comrades because of her single-minded focus on revenging her father and because of her powers that hated how she was favored.
Though this part is just a guess on my part, as I haven't read the LNs.

Edit: Okay, I went searching a bit more and I found the actual web novels. They were all in Japanese, so I had to use Google translate and here's what I discovered.

Warning. This is a bit gruesome, however, I tried to tone it down.

In Chapter 91, Colonel Oga who I think is with the empire meets up with John Doe to discuss peace talks. In the midst of their talk, Colonel Oga requests as part of the terms that the Allies "punish" the unit that attacked them with the nuclear weapon (Mary's unit). John is initially reluctant, but replies that he also wants the agitator's head. After some more talk regarding Information leakage and stuff and like the two parties come to an agreement and commence plans for the fake battle.

In Chapter 94, the chapter begins with Tanya comparing herself and Mary. Basically she states that the main difference between them is that Tanya follows the rules of political order, while Mary prefers to follow her own rules due to considering that her faith and justice is above political order. This in Tanya's eyes makes her hard to control and considers her actions to be stupid, as "a stupid hero who has no control and friction inside the military was as useless as shortwear." She also states that a hero must have some military control if they want to survive in a post-war order. Mary's squad notice this and take advantage of this opportunity to try and kill Tanya through artillery fire. They basically bombard Tanya with artillery shells in the hopes of chasing her away and I think at some point Tanya faces off with Mary.

In Chapter 95, Mary is flying around trying to kill Tanya and co. while the narrator is questioning which one of two apostles will be of more benefit in maintaining peace in the new world order. Mary thinks to herself about how absolute justice is (Like Seryu from Akame ga Kill). During the battle, Mary and Tanya use their chants to try and annihilate one another. Mary's commander Grant gives up on the idea of defense and tries to use gravity to his advantage and winds up hit.

The scene then skips to Mary who is badly injured, but doesn't want to retreat even though she has to. All of a sudden the empire retreats, so Mary heads back to base. At the base, Mary speaks with Col. Drake who insists that Mary gets medical treatment. Once she is strapped into the stretcher, that's when things get dark. All of a sudden, Mary's allies basically starting butchering her with knves and Mary doesn't understand why. Drake explains that the men who are attacking her were either family members or loved ones of the ones that Mary herself killed during one of her acts of insubordination. While its clear that the others hate her, Drake himself is conflicted. He then eventually admits to himself that he can't understand the concept of a holy war as he is well aware that Justice is multifaceted. He goes on further to say that fighting based on religious faith terrifies him as he is well aware of the brutal travesties caused by it. Mary calls Col. Drake a strong person to Col. Drake's disgust (as he doesn't consider himself to be strong). He then leaves the scene while telling Mary to die quickly and commands his troops to surrender to the enemy.

Reading the manga I understand that Mary Sue really made honor to her name.
Got 3 blessings from 3 Gods, I'm surprised tanya with curses on her even survived, really strong plot armor.
Now the only thing I want from this story is a epilogue making us (the reader) understand what happened after in Tanya life, did our unfortunate salaryman get a peaceful life in America? Was he forced to join their army? Did his informations on the possible future help someway? Did he break the curse of having every word he said or behavior took the worst way from people?

As far as I remember, it was pretty good - I have v1 and v2 in ebook. There was room for some small improvements IIRC but it generally read fine.

Do we know the level of involvement of the novel author with the manga? For example, just having his name there because original author but leaving everything to the mangaka, or only looking up at changes and additions to give an ok, or actually writing the dialogue for the manga, etc.

Hmm. For some reason my pre-order for the English version of LN4 failed and I only just read it last night. Anyway...

Heh, Tanya sure doesn't like commies! (I think it's safe to say that the author doesn't like them either). The war sure is getting bogged down now. The Empire doesn't seem to be at breaking point yet but it's certainly under massive strain.

I wonder if the US joins the war later on or not. The Empire certainly is trying hard to avoid a "Pearl Harbour" type incident but will they succeed...?

I certainly doesn't like how Serebryakova's appearance on anime really not as she was on the LN or manga. I mean, on LN and Manga many men will gun on her while on anime... meh....

I do hope Tanya can consider herself to promote her adjutant at least to Lieutenant or Captain. I mean... she know Tanya more than anyone else.
