I wasn't expecting a suicide attempt, I thought Parona was going to gut Hayase instead. I know if I were tired of it all and just wanted to end it, I certainly would be sure that Hayase was sent to hell first lol

Gugu is a really good boy. His brother is a gigantic asshole for abandoning him and taking all their savings with him.

The preview says his body holds a secret, and definitely not the good kind. Maybe he's already dead. The old man is obviously not just a sake brewer, otherwise people wouldn't steer clear from him.

Similar to Marche, Gugi was also betrayed by family. Though Marche's parents at least cared about her and she had Parona. I doubt Gugu's brother was torn about leaving him. He found some happiness now thanks to the old man, Fushi, and Rean. I doubt it will last though.

I think his brother gambled away all their money. His friends did tell him that he better win, so I think it's clear that he was involved in some gambling of sorts.

Obviously not, given that Pioran brought Fushi to her lover. I doubt it was just to give him another hand to make sake.

More puzzling to me was why Rean showed up there at all and, at least at first, without any retainers. Seems an unlikely destination for a high-bred girl, and more unlikely that her retinue would let her go on such a journey.

I wondered how Fushi would have fared doing pull-ups had Gugu not kicked Fushi off the bar. I suspect his boy form is in pretty good physical shape after fending for himself in isolation all those years. I wondered if Gugu didn't want to let Fushi try for fear he would be outmatched. The mix of friendship and jealousy between them creates an interesting dynamic.

Knowing Fushi he'll be out there copying Gugu tomorrow.

Gugu was pouting because Rean went all googly over Fushi and was trying to give himself a leg up, as well as seethe about Fushi generally. Not too surprising that he’d be less than thrilled to have Fushi copy him there.

I love the dynamic among that whole family of oddballs living in the weird mansion.

Yeah, given that the old man seems to have quite the bad rep, it's weird they let her go alone. She most likely went in secret.

Kinda too soon to judge, but I'd say what she told Gugu when she gave him the ring said a lot about her character as well.

So that's what Booze Man did to Gugu... what the fuck? At least now I get why he fights by spitting fire in the OP.

Gugu's story has been pretty heartwrenching so far, but he's at least not alone anymore, for he has a monster brother! Looks like Rean will accept him as well according to the preview.

Yeah I'm also impressed by Gugu's boss (the farmer one not the Booze Man) he seems like a genuinely good person.

Life really hasn't been kind to Gugu. On the bright side, he has met a fellow monster in Fushi. Not to mention Rean seems like she'll be pretty accepting and his farmer boss seemed genuine in his attempts to be there for Gugu.

He's a rare breed, but they do exist. Unfortunately it seems like the apples fell pretty far from the tree.
