This show is just so wholesome. It's making feel things I haven't felt since Usagi drop (the anime, don't remind me of the manga). Hime picking the name of the dog based on a misunderstanding was really cute.

Looks like Grandpa was the one who named Hime? That's what I got out of the flashback. And since Kakushi has some of his paintings that were made after Hime was born, I guess their falling out is more recent than I thought. Probably happened when Hime's mother died.

I was surprised to see that Goto did not even get to his name. Usually, that tradition is done by the father, so the fact that he is just sitting on the side really shows how little his wife's family thought of him.

"I can't ink lines that'll surpass the rough draft" is an effective line considering Goto's situation.

There were some nice charming moments too like Hime naming the dog after a misunderstanding and Tomurain successfully alienating the one member of the team that did not find him annoying.

Is there a reason the dog sounds like I voiced it for 50 cents? Or is it an attempt at being funny?

Am I the only one who doesn't much care for the scenes with the manga assistants? I just endure those segments until we can see Hime again.

It's the latter, and I do find it amusing.

Even if his series and artstyle gets made fun of, he's actually very successful it seems?

Being able to have two houses, and he has a fair number of assistants that he has to pay.

Doesn't his ex-father-in-law own the vacant one?

I find it surprising, and somewhat implausible, that someone who seems to have been a conventional artist would have become as wealthy as Hime's grandfather.

Did they censor the rough draft skit in the anime? I could've sworn the reference to Togashi was much less subtle in the manga

I don't know, but I thought it was pretty obvious he was talking about Togashi.

I wonder if what happened in this episode reflected reality and Kodansha really didn't throw their usual year end party that year (and possibly the following years) or if it was entirely fictional. Anyway, mostly comedy centered on the industry this week.

Future scene at the end was really short this time. Guess that assistant never became a mangaka.

Well looks like one assistant failed a at becoming a mangaka.

The gag premise got old around episode five. Now it's on its last legs.

Why didn't the Indonesian woman attend the party with Hime?

So Kakushi's tragic past was exposed and he thought he couldn't keep being a mangaka after that. The reason is what Rasuna said early in the episode, he was trying to "hide" behind the image of an easy-going mangaka. There was something about a boat incident and people being missing too? Not sure if that's related or a red herring.

The manga and anime are apparently going to conclude at the same time, meaning we'll get an actual ending.

So in the end Goto lost his drive as a manga artist after his past was exposed. Also the boat incident might be concerning him too. The last two episodes may take on a more heavy tone than the previous ones

That's great news as I was hoping to get an ending.

This isn't completely sure though, but given the close dates, it's likely. I don't think they would have bothered with the future segments if they weren't planning to give us a conclusion too. To me, they're the most interesting part of the anime, but it could have worked as a simple comedy without them.

Hime really got a lot of luck winning a trip to an onsen that allows pets but that dinner was really wacky with everyone confessing weird stuff

Kakushi gets sick and all those girls he talk to is by is bed

A bit late to the reply (and you might have remembered where you saw this by now), but
Spoiler for Spoilers:
