I hope they try a bit deeper story mode rather than just having a rival and then face the final boss. Tekken 8 tried to redeem Jin Kazama after his horrible Hitler moves from 6 and Rock needs something similar considering he abandoned Terry. Maybe they are gonna become enemies but the length of the story mode allow the screentime to end the arc?

The last trailer claims 17 characters + 5 DLC. So far we got... 11? So there's plenty of room for them to enter the fray. I THINK that they've spoken about Joe and Andy being in the game too - someone had asked Soita Yoichiro (Joe's creator) whether Joe got scrapped in favour of Preecha and he'd said no, but I'll have to go over a few interviews to find it. That being said, the game is available to pre-order as a "special edition"at $60, including the first season pass.

If Butt is present, then Mr. Karate.....
I remember Hokutomaru was an hybrid of Andy and Mai gameplaywise hybrid in similar style as Rock was of Geese and Terry. The trailer did say something about a RPG mode which might further explore the story more than typical arcade modes SNK has done. The trailer does say that the story is about Geese's legacy so it really picks up after Rock's ending. I guess it would be too expensive to create a story mode like Namco did with Tekken 8.

EOST is proooobably going to be just fights with extra parameters, though I would love to see more story. T8 went full on cinematic, but even if we had something akin to the RPG mode from GBVS, I'd still be happy with expanded lore on every character.

Now THAT must have cost literally millions. I know that they got money to spend now, but... this is not the type of spending I'd call wise, these ads would probably have to fetch an extra ~40,000 copies just to break even and fighting games are... well, not for everyone, that's for sure.
I doubt Ronaldo would be a playable character, but having him as an EOST NPC or an announcer would work. Kenny Omega could be a legit fighter, it's his job, but his signature move would face some copyright issues, so... I don't know. In any case, getting the game's reputation to spread is a good thing and I already can't wait for April, so I'd say we got some good news. |

Also CMIIW but majority of SNK loyal fanbase is soccer and wrestling enthusiast so this move really come with awareness they got nothing to lose. I doubt CR7 will be commentator since it requires voice acting / commentary experience but a background character or appears in one of character epilogue. Direct advertisement and/or motion capture are his most expensive deal so game NPC is the way to go. Kenny OTOH totally works as DLC character.
