Cultural context. She doesn't mean "I am going to have people build shrines to me". "Become a god" is a metaphor. After all, she doesn't believe gods exist in the metaphysical sense so by killing Oyashiro-sama's followers, she is killing Oyashiro-sama itself and in so doing she becomes the true Oyashiro.

Well, yeah I doubt she was talking 100% literally but what was with the "being feared leads to being revered" speech? I mean, killing Oyashiro-sama doesn't seem to be the goal for her, merely means to achieve something. But what?
It was somewhat weird that her subordinates were not shown to react at all when she made this crazy speech and the evil (way over the top, alas, Rena does it much better) laughter. Then again I guess the minions of evil never turn against the evil overlord just because he or she happens to be mad as a hatter.

I didn't like this episode very much. The execution seemed clunky and the art took a few nasty dives. I was especially annoyed by the scenes where everyone just stood still and talked despite being chased by murderous bastards.

Also, the scene where Mion stays back to stall the enemy was so poorly done! The rest of the gang run away, yet Mion somehow manages to catch up to them while bleeding to death and then Takano and her gang magically appear as well. The Yamainu probably are fast runners, but Takano in her tight skirt and high heels? I'm not buying it!

Oh and the gun shots didn't have enough oomph and the blood splatter just looked cheap somehow. I still think this series would have needed a much higher budget. Or at least it should have been done by KyoAni, who I assume did not have an exceptionally high budget for FMP: TSR but still managed to do an amazing job.

Yet another thing I still don't understand is why Rika must be killed in that specific manner. It seems from this chapter that when TOKYO hears about her death, they order the massacre. Why don't they do it unless Rika is killed this way?

Oh trust me, there are very logical answers to both of these questions. I'm sure it will all be explained in Matsuribayashi.

Nice episode... as for the part where

why everyone's body were at the same spot, even though they were already dead (as for the tied up part, I'm not sure, cuz I never noticed that)...

Maybe the original game story WAS supposed to be in there... But maybe talking and shooting just wasn't long enough, or maybe the scenes were too violent... I dunno. The part where Satoko was shot looked pretty odd, eg, right after the camera change, it seemed like something was cut out..

Maybe they had to redo/modify the original ending of the arc due to time (too short)... but after they did, it may have become too long, so many other things were left out... I wouldn't know. But as a non-game player, I enjoyed this episode immensely. Maybe it was all the programming from you guys that this arc was gonna be superb, that kept me interested. Well, in any ways, it DID work, I and I love this episode.

I'm ready now, bring on the next one! ... btw, when's the next earliest higurashi episode release?

I got the impression Takano killed her and had her corpse put there. When they see her, Takano immediately responds with "She's already dead." It's not far-fetched to believe because she had everyone, dead and alive grouped together later.

Yeah this has been a pretty rough arc for Satoko. Manages to survive from being beaten to death by her uncle to being shot in the head by Takano. Really do feel bad for her since she just can't catch a break it seems.

Even if they cut it out can't imagine how Rika must've suffered. I mean no matter how you look at it being conscious during such an event would be horrific. Almost glad they cut it out since it would've been rough to hear her since anyone would cry out during that.

umm, in the links for the game scenes we didn't get any Rika's intestines coming out and suffering eitehr IIRC Takano just said something and then it was all black and them sayng what I think is a longer version of the last minutes in this week's episode.

That's true, Rika's suffering must not be forgotten, even when it's rivaled by Satoko's. Having my intestines forcibly removed while I'm still conscious would be a merciless fate, I can't even begin to imagine what sort of pain she'd be in. Takano is one cold-hearted woman.

Rika is one brave girl to make such a decision, but after all she's been through it makes sense to grasp any for any straw that's withing her reach.

Damn it, This is the most painful episode to watch. Takano's laugh at the end made me want to slap her hard!
Some positives from this episode:
Keiichi + Mion + Rena kicked ass! I was hoping Rena would just throw her cleaver at Takano and kill her or something.
They are moving on to the next world, hopefully they would remember something.

Takano's P220 was NOT suppressed. Since everyone's asleep AND they're in a wooded area, the sound of the gunshots probably wouldn't be heard in the village.

If you were talking about the soldiers MP5SD`s, yes, those SMGs are suppressed. Seemed a bit too loud for an SD.
