So, do we even need the pundits now that we have Nate Silver?

So it turns out that people in Florida stopped counting, cos they got bored.

I love the US election! So much drama!

aye, what I carry from this is that neither party has a fiscal policy mandate. translation: the House GOP needs to get off their ideologue stool and start compromising.

On social issues however, the GOP definitely was handed a few face slaps (immigration, marriage, etc). If anything, the GOP may have to come to grips with whether they want to matter in the long run. Stick to fiscal policy and they might have a chance.

But this is telling them a message, they got two years to get their stuff together or they are going to be voted it out. BTW, I was talking about that Senate race and now they dont need VP Biden to be the final votes since Dems got 51 seats and maybe more.

Great speech, the optimistic idealist is back, at least for a moment.

...until you realize the House GOP is still around in firm control. Therefore nothing will get done at least for two years.

Nonetheless, congratulations, Mr. President.

Pundits were always useless. Just took Nate and others like Stewart and Colbert to drag them out into the searing light. Hopefully 538 promotes renewed interest in math and statistics.

Or the End Timers...can't forget the End Timers.

They might even go as far as to label Obama the Anti-Christ as a sign of the end.

I'm still waiting on the rage that will follow all over the net, TV, talk show radios, and the such after the dust has settled over the win for Obama.

and it looks like Fla is at 99% and Obama is still leading by 70,000. So Fl is going to Obama, for the grand total of 332 to 203. To win all the battleground states except NC and getting outspend by millions and millions. This is something that Obama and his supporters that can be proud of.

The GOP needs to revise themselves, though. They are marching towards the doom of their party.

Obama spent like 200 million more than Romney did, not to mention being president he can pass off a lot of his campaigning as "doing his job" thus not spend campaign money but tax money doing it. Such as flying to campaign somewhere but do something official there as well thus transportation costs all tax dollars.

That's counting only Obama and Romney, and not the Super PACs.

I didn't really pay attention to pundits this election. I actually looked at the drop in the polls after the first debate with horror more. XP

So what was total?

I hear around 2 billion spent total. And Obama like 200 million more than Romney.

So be like 900 million Romney and 1.1 billion Obama.

A last count, Gary Johnson has about a million votes to his name. He might make 1% of the popular vote by the time everything is counted (he was not on the ballot in Oklahoma and was write in only in Michigan.)

So far he's the only third party candidate that has popular vote listed on Wikipedia's Election 2012 page.

That's pretty cool. Maybe someday...

People keep saying this but we still have millions voting for the Repubs. I think Dems have a bit wishful thinking the GOP as being two wolves tearing at each other when it seems to be just one wolf with a deer tick stuck onto its fur, screeching about guns and black people and terrorists.
