Basically, this series is based on the 1937 novel The Boy Detectives Club by none other than Edogawa Ranpo.

Episode 1
A mystery show with decent technology (I'm actually surprised on that part) and a badass detective protagonist... Well, I'm interested in knowing more about that Hanasaki guy. That Kobayashi guy seems to be dealing with some personal demons. Kinda curious to see how their relationship will develop for rest of the season. The music is pretty good for this. Definitely has potential.

Episode 1
This was somewhat interesting. Hanasaki and Akechi are detectives with Akechi being the one who takes on jobs or something like that. Hanasaki is his disciple or something. And they're after Twenty Faces. Akechi helps out the police in solving some problems. Hanasaki takes on little stuff like finding a lost dog. The hacker girl was fun. This Kobayashi kid has some weird power or something which prevents him from dying. It probably activates when he feels he's in trouble because the robot caught him off guard and managed to scratch him even though he couldn't when he shot himself. The thing is that even if he subconsciously feels that he's in danger his powers will activate or whatever and prevent the incoming whatever from hurting him. The key to approach him is to not let him feel threatened in any way. I think that's it. And because of this power, Kobayashi has been unable to feel pain and wants to feel it like normal humans. He's fed up with his invincibility and wants to die, but he can't because his powers activate as his body feels like it's in danger when he tries to kill himself. This episode was kinda interesting. It's a 2 cour show so I wonder how this'll go. It'll probably be each episode or so having some mystery or something related to Twenty Faces and they'll try to catch him and in the mean time Kobayashi will learn stuff about himself and not want to die or whatever. And Hanasaki has promised to find a way to kill Kobayashi. Of course he wouldn't do that. But it would be interesting if he actually finds a way to kill him. |

I'm not entirely sure what I just saw, but I guess I'm curious enough to watch the next episode...
I'm also not entirely sure what's going on behind this show that they got someone like Gackt to "appear" in it... then again, at least he's not terrible. (I haven't properly heard him in literally over a decade so I was pretty surprised to hear that this is what he sounds like now. I would've never recognized him if it wasn't for the OP song which was hilariously '90s/early '00s and after a while I went "oh!") Last edited by kuromitsu; 2016-10-03 at 17:20. |
