I think the OP said "not depressing," but I agree it's hard to tell.

If so, how about Hidamari Sketch? Or Bartender? (Bartender can be a bit melancholy, but each episode usually ends on an upbeat. Hidamari Sketch is upbeat throughout.)

Well aside from the big 3 like that (Bleach, Naruto, One Piece) you can try some of my favorites like FLCL, Gintama, Deathnote (or at least I don't find that to be horror or depressing), Code Geass, or Cowboy Bebop.
