Reminds me of Bulma's adventure in Namek during the Freeza Arc. As someone who read the manga first, that part annoyed me very much. Heck, the entirety of DBZ anime annoyed me, but that part is one of the lowest points of DBZ. I'd rather watch an episode where Goku or Piccolo learn how to drive .

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Film Delayed Due to Toei Animation Hack

Toei announced on Friday that Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, the second anime film in the Dragon Ball Super franchise, has been delayed due to the Toei Animation hack. Toei apologized to fans who were looking forward to the film's opening.

The film was slated to open in Japan on April 22. The CG film's release schedule may differ depending on each country and region. The film was slated to open in North America this summer.

Toei announced on Thursday that Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, the second anime film in the Dragon Ball Super franchise, has been rescheduled for June 11. It had been delayed due to the Toei Animation hack last month. Toei added that the entire staff is putting all their effort into meeting the new release date.

Darn, this looks so good. Love Gohan and I'm really looking forward to this. Really hope Piccolo isn't tossed aside easily and is actually active throughout the movie.

I want to say he'll do great since he's getting a new form, but then there are all the precedents Vegeta has set:

Super Saiyan -> gets wrecked by 18
Super Saiyan Grade 2 -> gets wrecked by Perfect Cell
Super Saiyan 2 -> sacrifices his life to kill Boo and it does absolutely nothing
Super Saiyan Blue -> gets wrecked by Hit
Ultra Ego -> loses to Granolah

Then again, Vegeta is the ultimate jobber.

One of leakers I saw said its a souped-up second form? / messed-up process? which lead to kaiju size.
So expect it will return someday with Perfect Cell appearance if they wanted to make another Gohan stories. I bet Toriyama wanted to play it safe rather than immediately throwing another Perfect Cell, perhaps by gradually canon-ized movie villains up to point Perfect Cell Max is sensible to match Gohan like how Frieza got upgrade.

I think it's probably intentional.
Since the movie has a tokusatsu hero motif, they wanted the villain to be kaijuu-like.

He doesn't have a new form. It's the same deal as usual: he didn't train so he lost most of his power and has to unlock Ultimate again with a rage boost.

I don't get why they keep doing this. Gohan spent 7 years doing nothing but studying between Cell and Boo and he could still go SSJ2. Yet now if he spends a couple of years not training, he loses the form he gained by literally just sitting on his ass. If any power up should be permanent, it should Ultimate.

I don't know, Gohan seems pretty fit for me (unlike the time when he wore that green sport outfit in the Resurrection of F) There seems to be another scene where gohan uses ultimate in a different fight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y891yH83CsM (different fight from the rage boost I assume), so maybe all hopes are not lost yet?

The information comes from one of the leakers of the final boss. They revealed a few other things too.

There's apparently a massive twist at the end of the movie that no one is willing to spoil because it's just that big.

You should be used to it by now that every form is just treated as a normal transformation once they're no longer new in Dragonball.

I've never seen anyone else lose transformations. It makes zero sense. 4 years between end of Boo and BoG and he could still go Ultimate. A few months later and he's not even sure he can still go Super Saiyan anymore.
