Spoiler for Episode 63:

Epic Erza + epic Erza speech + new piece of music = best scene in the arc so far. Shame it was ruined by the episode ending, but ah well. Decent episode really. The serious side of the fight with Nightmare, and then all the laughs with the talking staff was handled quite well, even if the gang totally forgot about an almost dead Jura on the floor . Oh and Professor Happy was gold.

Next episode: All hell will break loose.

Episode 63 felt to me like it had its priorities wrong or something.

The epic Erza scene was of course better by virtue of it being Erza, but I thought that the Jura scene itself was handled better, while the Erza/Jellal/Midnight scene felt like it missed some umph here and there.

Probably partly in due to the lesser art quality and Jellal's kneeling figure not looking really atmospheric to the scene.

Also, I kinda expected new flashback scenes. Boo recycled material.

So did Brain play that trick to wake up the staff or just try and get rid of all of them? Also did the staff cause the explosion?

So the truth of Caitshelter is revealed, suspected they would be related to Nirvana somehow, but didn't think they're descendants of the Nirvit.

So Midnight's magic explained. Erza's scene at the end was nice.

So next ep is Erza vs Midnight and a new guy appears?

There's actually more to it than that.

The "new guy" might not be as new as you think.

Midnight didn't reflect the last sword but instead dodged it. There has to be a weakness to his magic.

I know that is what I was thinking, I think he might have to recharge or something sort of like Pain using Shinra Tensei. Also, has anyone noticed that Midnight constantly says that magic can't hit him, so why don't they try physically hitting him instead of using magic?

Also, it seems that Midnight gets defeated next episode because Brain said that "he" would show up once all the Oracion Seis were defeated, and I have a feeling that "he" is the person at the end of the preview and in the opening that is fighting Natsu. I have a feeling that it is not the talking skull staff only because he doesn't seem like someone to frighten Brain.

I have a couple reasons why this person might be Brain, maybe a side of him that he doesn't want others to see.

Spoiler for Brain and this new guy:

1: It looks like this new guy uses the same magic as him as shown in the opening.

2: Each time an Oracion Seis member gets defeated, a line disappears on his face which could possibly be a barrier holding this other personality back, as Brain was said to know sealing magic as well.

3: He seems to have a similar build to Brain, as well as Hair Length, while the Hair Style is a little different and different shades of Gray/White. The only thing that is completely different are the clothes and the eyes.

Going back to the Talking Skull Staff, even though he is pretty funny, I don't think that he is going to play a big part in the rest of the arc, but you never know...

Yea, so I am probably just over thinking this, so don't take this stuff seriously.

EDIT: I re-looked at the part that you were talking about and it seems like Midnight dodged it like he didn't need to use his magic, however, I took another look and realized that he was attacking Erza, so maybe he can't protect himself and attack people at the same time, but it also seems like he waits to start his next attack so it could also be like my previous theory of him having to recharge before he can you a specific "reflection" magic again...

Talking staff-san is rude, he didn't introduce himself Episode was nice, I found it rather complete...bondage Erza FTW Liked Midnight's speech on Jellal, didn't like his sadistic nature as much, but oh well. Next episode should be epic~

Midnight can twist stuff around eh? It seemed to me that he can only do that and block metallic objects as when he was doing that ''nice thing'' to Erza, she just unequipped her armor. Shouldn't he be able to, like, twist normal clothes or something cuz' he could have strangled Erza with her own skirt then

Nice episode overall. I think Erza will win the next episode, she will probably team-up with Jellal or something and beat the crap out of Midnight.

I think she had to physically break the armor in the manga. You can see little chunks of it flying off her:

Sure, but armor is better for him because the opponent has a tougher time untwisting metal.

If there's actually anyone out there who believes Erza is not awesome or cool need to watch this episode. Erza single handedly shows why she is without a doubt one of the greatest badarse female characters of all time.

Other things happened in this episode, though they pale in comparison to Erza's screentime. Apart from that preview for next weeks episode. :3

Definitely a good episode for Erza. Need her pretty much toppling a major fighter by herself and one of that caliber. Has had to play the one needing to be rescued a few times and a good chance to show her skills. Once again that eye is damn handy since otherwise they couldn't have broken through Midnight's illusion magic.

Someone might want to pass along to Charles that finding Jellal to see him and finding him to stop Nirvana both involve finding Jellal . Not like Wendy's focus is that split up, though good to try and get her to focus on what needs to be done. They are running out of time and if her healing magic can help then Jellal might be able to do something about Nirvana.

Just know I'm going to find it hard to believe Natsu taking on this Zero guy. I mean knocks him out with one finger, but in the main fight he's probably going to take huge attacks and keep standing....Tough time for Lucy. Low on options for spirits to fight with and that guy is a monster.

Agree with the Erza awesomeness. Another anime might have had the man do the defeating, but I love seeing heroines be just as badass. Which makes me a bit bummed seeing Natsu and Grey still have magic power, but apparently Lucy is all out. Would have liked to see her overcome her fear and at least try a little something.

At any rate, good episode, one of my favorites. Erza showing exactly why she's as good as she is, and not just because she's powerful.

Erza beating Midnight was nice, that eye is more handy than i thought.

The staff actually fighting back was funny, it gave Natsu and Gray a tough time.

So the boss is actually Brain's other personality. I guess that's why they showed the lines on his face disappear.

Zero seems pretty strong. Would have liked to see Lucy try something, but being out of magic and totally scared doesn't help.

So Nirvana will be firing on Caitshelter next ep, hopefully they can avoid it somehow.

A 10 episode for me. Yeah Erza did shine this episode and looked good doing so. Its amazing no matter the situation Natsu and Grey find a way to get at each other.lol. And Lucy gets the patent stare down. That stuff just don't get old to me. As for the other personality of Brain, well theirs not much for me to say, he's just evil. Did i say this episode was great already?
