I think this is the first series I see with a female dominated cast where the male protagonist is more popular than any of his female counterparts.

It just goes to show you how well the overall show did in regards to character development. This poll actually helps solidify how great this series is and how much it deserves to be one of the top best rated animes out there.

Botan had a good tag team with Kotomi in that five way lunch for Tomoya setup. Botan ("Nabe") also makes a nice kiddie slide.

As for Tomoya...well with so many episodes, he does get the most attention and audiance support I think. Ushio on the other hand melts heart almost as soon as she appears and continues to do so for all her appearances. Something that none of the other girls could claim.

Nagisa: From episode 11 and onward of the second season of Clannad, she has quickly become one of my favorite character.

Ushio: I really don't think much of Clannad as a story until Ushio showed up.

Sanae and Ak-ki: As passive a character Nagisa has been through out the series, her parents are the complete opposite. They brightened the mood of an episode any time they were shown. Sanae in school uniform is just... cough cough.. ahem... is it hot in here?

Youhei: Another victim of Clannad that didn't know what to do with a good character. Solid character in more than one way our main hero was ever allowed to be.

Kyou: I just loved her energy.

Kotomi: She puts a smile on my face. The first time Tomoya attempts communication, it almost ended in failure until he remembered that Kotomi-chan is the proper way to address such nature of delicacy Kotomi is. And the way she shuffled herself to change direction from her sitting position..... ah... good memories.

Tomoyo: She is my honorable mention. I found her pretty boring aside for her brief interactions with Youhei.
