Pretty much, yes. It's a way to emphasize the upgrade, I'm fairly sure they won't be 'button pushing' to win as it were.
As for Takao, opinions differ I guess. I'd rather have her reappear than be killed off on an altar to gritty realism. And I don't think her reappearance lessens the fact she basically sacrificed her entire body to help Iona.

The gravity cannon is their one-shot ship sniper, and using it and doing the sidekick to do a hard-turn to catch all those Nagara cruisers at once was pretty cool. Those poor series cannon fodder.

Poor Kongou, after being outmaneuvered by Blue Steel, locked down by Iona's sisters and having to listen to Miya's repetitive "Carnival", she is now fully bat-sh*t crazy. I'm thinking that this next Fog battle group is in as much peril from Kongou as Blue Steel.
But I like Kongou! Did anyone else get the impression that this episode opened a crack for a continuing plot. |

Kongou, you aren't even a ship anymore. And why is there a hole right in the middle of that huge round thing? Is that a dead giveaway to where her "one hit and it's over" weakpoint will be? Just like .. the death star?
Anyway, this episode is kinda funny. The goggles guy was relieved the incoming ships had signatures of American warships, but we already know the only ships that are able to sail anywhere are Fog vessels. So why is he and everyone acting so shocked? Only Gunzou seems to have his head on straight: ordering engines to be at combat level the moment contact is reported. |
