Wasn't the Rebuild series supposed to make the genre easier to understand?

I'm only getting more confused.

Well that's what they said when it was first announced. They were going to make the series more accessible to newcomers.

When they said "more accessible", I think they instead wanted to do away with the more subtle and obscure aspects - yet still widely discussed - of the show such as the Hedgehog's Dillemma - everything that makes Eva an intricate psychological story. Simplify, simplify, simplify.

I have a question about Ramiel, that little humming sound it makes. Is that like...a roar it does? As far as I can tell, no other Angel makes any sound. From what I can remember at least.

Yes its a 'roar', if you're talking about the high pitched squeals when it was hit.

If its the sound made by the beam firing, its just the sound effect of the beam.

Or maybe you're talking about the hum when its moving into the city, its just a floating sound effect, maybe caused by some sort of resonance from its movement.

Anyway the high pitched squeal is one of Gainax's favourite clips from their sound palette. Originally the sound of Space Monsters in Top wo Nerae!. Besides this squeal, Ramiel had the other 2 sounds back in the original series.

Well for starters, stop trying to connect it to the old series if you are doing so. Second, it;s not done, so not everything has been revealed.

I'm not connecting it to the older series. I'm only referring to the fact that, to me, they said that the Rebuild series would be easier to understand.

That's because it's MEANT to puzzle you.

"More accessible" does not equal "No mystery."

Yes, there are still things that are confusing, and bizarre, and (so far) unexplained.

Hell, if they explained everything right off the bat, they'd have no "hook," right? So think of the end as being a little teaser to make you want to see Eva 2.0.

Yeah, it's supposed to come out this summer. But who really knows?

1.0 came out at the beginning of September 2007. 2.0 came out at the end of June 2009. (I was lucky enough to be in Japan for both of them...guess I better hustle back, huh?)
