Spoiler for Episode 4:

The face-off between Ichika and Arachne's pilot is getting rather rough, until the moment when Tatenashi shows off her Mysterious Lady IS and fight the Arachne against her will. It was a pretty nice conclusion to the current affair. The antagonists have their own hidden agenda, let's see how the next episode goes.

THIS is the MECHA action that I have been wanting from IS, screw the love com, the mecha battles are what I want!

And I could be wrong, but they actually made Ichika MORE useful in the anime than the LN. O_O

On another note, the preview, what is going on?!!! From what I could tell, we are skipping ONE WHOLE novel (or at least fast forwarding) REALLY quick.

Finally, good episode and actual plot going on here. The action and animation was nice, HAHA The other girls who were trying to kill him for the crown didn't get it, good I say as they shouldn't get awards for that I think I'm liking the trainer for him now, she's pretty cool and knows how to handle him

Nice little episode. A break from all the chasing around Ichika. That M girl's objective is now pretty clear, well considering her being obviously related to Orimura's, this was kind of expected. Kind of funny how that Arachne person turned completely dere once that Squall person arrived on the stage.

EDIT: That preview... Houki with those ears and a collar with a bell?

With how pathetic & useless most of them were in this fight, that's a pretty bad sign of how terrible of a pilot he is in the LN.

Well in the novels he loses the second Autumn pins him and starts shooting at him - He never actually fought back to the extent that he did in the anime and he didn't even dent her when he tried, compared to the anime where he at least lops of a couple of arms and makes her lose all her ammo.

I'd give this 8.5/10 for ichika's relevance

but -1 for Tatenashi

Man his only method of surviving is his harem isn't it ? Though of course there's the equal chance that harem will kill him at some point in a jealous rage so..

Pretty sad if this was a major step up in his effectiveness. Though can't quite blame him for not being at Tatenashi's level since that IS is just pure hax.

Well, the first thing he should have done was get out by whatever means necessary. He's a high-speed combat type, which means he needs space to operate. CCC isn't going to work well for his IS suit.

But basic logic isn't something this series is known for.

In a combat situation one can't be expected to think everything perfectly. Ichika doesn't have the advantage of being able to pause the stream and think things through before he gets bifurcated.

How can that be? His mecha is carrying a sword. It has high speed burst to get in close to its opponent. Its special move is hitting enemies through their shielding. Close quarters fighting should be Ichika's area of specialization. He can't ask for any better battleground than one in which his opponent is entrapped in an enclosed area.
