Another great episode, incredible tense and I didn't want it to be over....
So, Lavalley was evil? Well wasn't expecting that. Though I do have to question: Is Lavalley, Martinet? And if he is Martinet, was he Martinet that whole time? Or was there ever a knight formally known as Lavalley? And if Lavalley always was Martinet, why did he as Martinet keep going after Amira to stop her from her course? He could have easily led the knights astray, and yet, it still makes sense for him being Martinet the whole time considering the inside detail he would often get in regards to the demons movements earlier in the series. Also it would make complete sense for Martinet to be able to stay hidden among the knights as he's human and not demon, even though he works for the demons. He's a master of manipulation and deception, I can see him keeping the ruse up for awhile. As for Jeanne, I'm surprised at how powerful she was, but again, most of the angels she killed were all distracted by keeping Bahamut contained and therefore never using their full strength, or were even taken out by surprise like Raphael. Though I'm glad that Michael was able to turn her back to normal using Rita's antidote. However, we are left with the ultimate ending as Amira is merged with the dragon and Bahamut is awakened. How they will end this in one episode, I have no idea, but I will be excited to see. Kaisar got pushed off so many cliffs and precipices that it wasn't even funny. ...(yes, it was ) Favaro looks pretty menacing when his face is entirely evil and serious. Though, his little hair "horns" were kinda cute. So all the gods and demons have gathered, the dragon has awakened. Our heroes are all down but not out, so next week shall be our thrilling conclusion! And who wants to bet that it will actually be Lucifer who takes out Beelzebub. I mean, I'm thinking the guy will show up some time.

The only time he led the knights straight to her is when she was captured by Azazel. Yes, she got captured by the knights instead, but it was still better than Azazel bringing her to Lucifer, which is basically game over. Then he, as Martinet, provoked Azazel to attack the city, weakening their defense so he could free Amira later. Everything makes perfectly sense, I think.

Nice, the energy and excitement from the beginning has come back in grand fashion. Had some feels for Jeanne there - not every day a 'maiden' gets a kiss from an angel like that. Kinda sucks that Michael realized why they lost out (he's known from the beginning but none of his fellow angels believed him), and the one who needed that lesson the most isn't there (Gabriel). I surmise that many many things that are between her and Bahamut will die next week.
I bet that Beelze thinks that since the key is made from a part of him, that he can exert some sort of control over Bahamut... that or he really doesn't care and wants the world to be destroyed but he'll hide away somehow... And Lavalley, wow, the man of the hour. They did a job with keeping him under wraps. That's a well-played 'Mole' right there. Kudos to MAPP.

Alright finally caught and damn what rush those episodes were.
First off there needs to be a "The Dragon of the Year" award because goddamn Martinet has been the most effective one I've seen awhile. Aside setting up everyone since the beginning masterfully, even Bahamut somehow defeated/put back to sleep he's some tremendous damage to both human and god domains that it will years to heal (if ever). So no matter how this end he got some victory for demons and that probably the one thing Lucifer will appreciate from all this. Seriously Azazel should to be ashamed of himself in comparison. Such a massive disappointment. Now that this week nicely showed why Martinet needed Jeanne I'm still not of Lavalley's ultimately role in all of this other then being a bastard and being on the whole crooked plan from the start. Guess we will see next week. Hopefully Favaro does something to somehow separate Amira from Bahamut without killing her. Poor girl's life has been nothing but shambles from the onset. Good question, I was honestly expecting to him interfere by, but nope. Seems like he's still back at home with book shoved his face. Last edited by Iron Maw; 2014-12-23 at 07:19. |

Actually on that note I do feel like this show could have used one or two more episodes to flesh things out a little more, but all in all it's been pretty done show so far. It's one of rare 1 cour series to not meander around by having throwaway while subtly developing it's characters so naturally. While it shouldn't be it is a rare thing to see nowadays. As long as it ends well enough next week I certainly wouldn't object to 2nd season whether it's fits into game's canon or not.

What the heck!
They killed the pretty Angels, they even killed Michael. Those bastards.
What are you doing Kaisar? You were supposed to make him eat a medicine not impale him with an arrow, now Amira's lost it even more. Something must be wrong when even Azazel has done more useful things than you. At least, we finally got back the usual dose of "Favarooo!!", hopefully it won't be the last time.

Another awesome episode. Glad Jeanne was saved in the end. But man, where are the big dogs of the two factions!? I'm assuming the Gods still has at least Odin since the Demons have Lucifer. I'm sure Kaisar defeated demon Favaro so easily because demon Favaro is fighting too straightforward like a beast instead of the tactician he normally is. I bet that arrow Kaisar shot Favaro with had the antidote on it, had to get it inside him somehow yeah?

(And now let's wait for the moment in the next episode where he meets Favaro and makes him eat the medicine the Michael-to-Jeanne way... XD) That's another possibility, although I don't remember seeing the little ball on the arrow... |

Kaiser was so close to Favaro's face that for a second there I thought he was gonna pull a Michael and kiss Favaro which would have been unnerving but somehow appropriate. I don't think being a demon gave any advantages to Favaro other than look incredibly hot and sexy. *wipes sweat*
I'm curious what Lucifer and Gabriel are up to, they seem to be absent when all the gods and demons appeared near Bahamut. |

Great show overall, imo one of the best from Fall season. Great acting from Favaro in this finale. The guy deserves an Oscars. Even more so, I'm glad he regained this will at the end as well. Favaro and Kaisar were able to put their differences aside; although not sure with the aftermath since they remain rivals D:
Action was great overall for this show as well. Season 2 pleaseee

This was a satisfying conclusion to a show, which ended up being quite a surprise. Overall I am quite satisfied with both the ending and the entire series.
Hoping that the series will truly be back like it said. Here are some sigs I made for fun, feel free to use them.

A show I will remember as "that show along with UBW with super high budget and production values". The mappa animator's artstyle is also pleasant to look at.
It was an OK but boring experience on my end but I don't know if I would stay for another season unless they change all the medieval western aesthetics and subject matter to a more cyber/future/steampunk or Asian one since I don't particularly like medieval western. |

For a show based on a card anime, it was really really good. Definitely the biggest surprise of the season for me. I didn't even intend to watch it initially and did it solely because of the good impressions everywhere. A solid 8/10. I'd love to see a sequel, which we will probably get if the text on the end card is any indication. The Bahamut-verse seems like a very interesting one to explore.
As for comments about the final episode itself, I have to say I was shocked Amira wasn't saved. The series seemed like it was setting up one of those endings where the main characters saves the heroines against all odds. But nope. What was impossible remained impossible and Favaro had the balls to do what needed to be done. I really appreciate that. Lavalley being Gilles de Rais was obvious in retrospect. I can't believe I didn't even think of that.

That was a great ending. I honestly did not expect much from this show at first but it turned out to really surprise me.
I honestly am shocked that they didn't find a way to rescue Amira. I guess they decided to stick with the whole no way back thing and have Favoro do what was he told he needed to do. It was still a great scene though.
