aw come on people what about the apple II it wasn't a console yea, but they had some fun games like load runner, spy vs. spy and a samurai one I played...forgot the name. Ok green was the only color you could see and you had to use a 5 and a half floppy for each program, but they were fun does anyone even know what I am talking about? O yea it didn't have a mouse or an OS either. I don't think it even had a DOS. hmmm ok don't remember the specs, but yea that was a fun thing to play with.

I guess though for a console NES would be the first one I played and I really liked Mario Bros. (1, 2, 3), Duck Hunt, and the track one. I think it came in a combo of duck hunt, mario bros., and the track thing (the track thing had a big pad where you stand on it and constantly press your feet over and over on like 2 numbers. I guess it can be considered the first model of a ddr pad. Lets see there was also a hockey and a motorcycle racing one I liked. O I really liked these other ones argh I wish I remembered the damn titles been so long. Well I still got the nintendo zapper for duck hunt the first ever console gun still works in fact, but my mom gave the nintendo away with the games to red cross or something T.T o well someone else can enjoy the good times I had with it.

The oldest system I gots now is the SNES and the newest is the PSX... yay I'm outdated in the console gaming world, but I got portable power with the GBA. I think everyone who liked the SNES should get the GBA I mean its got all the classics with extra stuff what isn't there to like, come on people.

I had a apple II GS (8 colors I believe) and I hated it because that's what we had when all my other friends had comador64's, and I could never find cool games for it. Arknoid II, Space Quest II, and Zany Golf were the only fun ones I found.

Best Console by far is SEGA DREAMCAST. Why? Because it has programs you can get off the internet that gives you over 300 genesis games, one that gives over 400 NES games I believe, and one with over 100 SNES games. I'm in classic gaming heaven. I've put about 20 hours on my PS2 in the last 2 years.

Other than that PC is the gaming platform for the serious gamer.

Based on the games it had and not the huge prices(!!!) the SNES gets my vote. It's still waiting in a box under my bed

As for the saturn I'm still waiting for commercial games to be fully playable on a pc. That day I'll play Panzer Dragon again...

Well my favorite old console was not listed. Now it may not be very old per say, but it definitely is no longer around. It's ........the Sega Dreamcast. I loved the psx too but the Dreamcast was just gaming nirvana and i played that system like hell. I will get another some day so i can beat shenmue II but until then i will stick with my ps2 and the wonderful rpg's that it brings me.

my fav was the dreamcast also, too bad it isnt listed in your poll. I love Shenmue, the graphics and gameplay was so awesome. I still remember that 50 man fight thing in the first game. I havent played Shenmue 2 though. Also I remember playing Quake 3 arena online and Phantasy Star those were the days, too bad Sega got out of the console business it just doesnt feel right without them now.

I will have to go with the Sega Saturn.

Sooo many great games came out on that system.

Radiant Silvergun, Virtual On, The best version of Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Steam Hearts, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Shining Foce III, Grandia, Lunar (all of them, including Magic School), Suikoden, and some more that are excaping me right now.

They never actually made a console called a "Nintendo," so I'm not sure, but I think you are referring to the N64.
hey, what about GameBoy Classic, pocket, color, advance, and sp?

my parent's wouldn't allow me to own a system so i lived in handhelds. now i tend to emu some old consoles and emu psx because they still won't let me have accual consoles.

<edit>
i forgot to mention my favorite old system.
Favorite old system: snes (Zelda: A link to the Past)

Super Famicom 00nage, I still have it, and I still play it. The only worry I have is that it might die from the dust in my room ^^. The best game IMO is SMB3 (Super Mario Bros. 3) I never played it on the NES though...When I got the SNES it came with a disk that contained SMB1+2+3+Lost Worlds or something. Edit: With disk I mean cartridge

I liked the Menacer's look over the superscope. Menacer looks kinda like a 40mm gernade launcher.

Ditto. The SNES system was the system that got me first hooked on RPGs with games like Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger. Oh yeah and the Mega Man X games were real fun to play.

Aww, no Coleco? I still play Artic Adventure (fast moving penguin viewed from behind, must dodge ice fissures & walruses popping out of holes while you eat fish and circle the Antarctic to a time limit - once around only makes the game faster, mwuhahaha), Cabbage Patch Kids (side scroller through a park with bees, bowling bowls, puddles, fountains with platforms, bouncing drums, etc all setup in puzzle configurations - if you get hit you sit down and cry ^^), and Donkey Kong against my siblings every once in a while...guess I'm too old. T.T

I'm going to vote SMS then, Alien Syndrome is my favorite game of all time (actually it's an arcade port, I think ^^ you have a time limit to get through these alien ships rescuing hostages and using different guns you pick up - great to play head to head). I have an adapter that let's me play SMS games on my Game Gear as well so the classics like the Fantasy Zones, Space Harrier, Miracle Warriors (awesome RPG and back in the SMS days no less), Shinobi, etc get a lot of play. SMS also had this light gun game called Rescue Mission that absolutely blew Duck Hunt away. It was a railed overhead where you have to help your team, save medics, take out enemies and grenades, etc - it was really well put together and fun, not static and lame.

Genesis is up there too, though. I met someone in college a few years ago who also played Star Control 2 endlessly as a kid. We played a game and it came down to me in an Arilou (gravity and inertia immune, fast teleporting ship with puny weapon) and him in an UrQuan (huge fighter launching ship with massive plasma weapon). Now SC2 fans know Arilous can kill UrQuans by dodging within their firing angles, shooting the fighters, and doing charges from behind the planet when the UrQuan passes, etc - if the pilot is insanely skilled anyway. I got that person down to one freaking crew member before dying. T.T If only I hadn't wasted so many resources building Yehats...they are just too much fun to do multiple gravity whips with and strafe at insane high speeds (that usually isn't the best way to win with them either T.T), hehehe. SC2 had awesome balance and often there were classic match ups like that and other ship matches that were almost a given so you to be careful what you built and what your enemy built.

Wow...do I win longest post? Or most boring at least? ^^
