Then again, with a mother like that, it is kind of sad that it's better for the kid to die than to suffer a more mortal curse like permanent disability due to neglect.

With a bunch of pigs and dogs surrounding your house, there isn't much you can do, even for the good ones.

The Mideast is kind of a failed sector in the world in terms of ethics and respect for other human beings, followed closely by China, Russia and US. Granted that the Israeli covert aggression had bred terrorist leaders, but those idiots in the Arab world aren't helping Palestine to come to terms by supplying them with arms. They could start by supplying them irrigation systems to turn it into a farmland, but noooo, it is always big badabooms to "wipe the Zionist Satans off the map".

It is not like the blood spilled will fertilise the land, and it is going to take million of years to turn the bones into natural gas. Why not ignore Israel and start building up the goddamn economy?

Nuh-uh they don't, or at least not the Israelis, ironically enough (the neighboring governments used to view Palestinians as...burdens, and pawns). Who else are the despots going to blame the woes of their population on if the Jews just packed up and left the Middle East? They'd lose the last flimsiest excuses left not to get up and shoot themselves in the head so their peoples could finally be free.

Although, one thing we can most certainly take from the recent revolutions sweeping the Arab world is that nobody was blaming the Jews. Not the Egyptians, not the Green Revolution in Iran, not the Tunisians, not the people of Dubai, not even the few Afghanis who support their own nascent "Green" revolution movement. They know who their real enemies are: the tyrants, the fundamentalists, not the Jews.

That of course does not excuse Israel's own right wing for radical, blatant provocation and the dangerous siege mentality. How many times have the peace efforts turned into a trainwreck because of those damned settlers anyway? And people can be quite rightly annoyed when Israel wrecks Beirut for the nth time invading Lebanon to take out Hezbollah or whatever.

When I was younger I'd watch some mothers obsess on soaps, gambling, cards, drinking, etc to the exclusion of seeing to their children.

The "on the Internet" boogeyman just irritates me.

Two of 21st-century America’s favorite gadgets — the smartphone and the GPS device — are on a collision course, according to a report delivered Friday to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The report says deployment of a massive new network of towers and satellites to expand wireless communication may effectively shut down global positioning system devices that are at the core of a multi-billion dollar plan to revolutionize aviation. They also may affect some GPS units used by drivers, bicyclists and boaters.

Not an actual engineer, but GPS signals are fairly weak. It's entirely possible strong signals from cellphone towers can interfere with them.

They'll probably switch to cell tower triangulation. I've found the triangulation software on the iphone/android a bit more accurate than the couple of GPS I've used.

This is a good solution, assuming you haven't recently invested billions into new GPS navigation systems.

... A lot? (I'm not sure I understand the question. The fact that the spectrums used by the systems are adjacent is the whole of the thing.)

I read Lulzsec's release directly

Is Cyber terrorism the new black? A bizarre group to be sure. I don't entirely disagree with their aims, but it would be better if they didn't publish user details...

Technically, the frequencies could be hairsplits apart with no problems IF the receiving gear has the resolution capability.... but most receivers are not made that well because no one considered the spectrum being that crowded (and it costs more).
