They all play differently. Ryu is a zoner, Ken is rushdown, Akuma is in between and Sakura just sucks in SFIV but her fireball and uppercuts have never been used in the same way as Ryu/Ken. Fireball is far weaker and her uppercuts go forward as opposed to up.

Not to mention these characters have different normal moves which is something MK never did to begin with. Normals are what gives SF it's depth.

When you look at the nuances of those characters, you are certainly correct. However, they all share the same moves, which is why they're classified as "shotos". In that sense, one can basically say they play the same (for the most part). I believe this is what Evil Rick meant.

And MK did start diversifying the normals ever since Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance (aka MK5).

As for the crossover ideas you guys have proposed, they simply wouldn't work because the fighting engines in each of those franchises are vastly different. I imagine things would be very complex from a programming perspective.

I doubt the theme of this thread is "Mortal Kombat cross overs" or "Wich is better? MK or Street Fighter?"

If anyone thinks Street Fighter games are better than the Mortal Kombat games, you're free to do it, but take your toughs to the Street Fighter threads since here will only cause discussions. (And I don't see any reason to post such comparations here).

Let's avoid any off topic discussion here, this thread was made to discuss this new Mortal Kombat, not Street Fighter and not Cross over sugestions & especulations.

Thanks.

Thanks for the info!

Even tough, with the only exception of Cyrax & Smoke, most of those were pretty obvious XP

^Those pics are sweet. The Bell Tower and Jade's Desert have never looked better, and I really like Cyrax's and Kitana's new designs.

Thanks Evil Rick .

Out of the roster so far, Scorpion and Nightwolf are definitely going to be amongst my mains. Scorpion is my favorite character and I've been using him ever since MK1; Nightwolf is just a beast when used to his full potential.

^Absolutely adore the render. This has the chances of being my favorite stage of the game.

The Living Forest has always been one of the most memorable stages in the Mortal Kombat series, and this game's graphical engine emphasizes its greatness all the more. I wonder if this game is going to have all of the arenas from MK1-MK3?

Another one of my favorite characters that I'm still waiting for is Baraka. Can't wait to see how monstrous and vicious his face will be .

Rumors say that all stages & characters from MK1 to MK3 will be in the game, plus DLC stages & characters from MK4 to MKArmageddon, but nothing confirmed yet.

This game is going to be absolutely epic. It's got the best of the old(Characters, Stages and Fatalities) and mixing it with the best of the new(X-ray Kombat, Tag teams and Super meters) It can't fail.

Mortal Monday returns!

And from now on, every Monday, we'll see a new bio from a Mortal Kombat stage (yes, stage)

The first one is from one of the most popular MK stages trough the MK games: The Pit

Newest revelations:

1) Jax is confirmed. Boon said that one of his fatalities is a combination of his two MK2 fatalities put together. Basically, with both hands he claps the victim's head which makes it explode, followed by ripping their arms off.

2) The Subway stage is back, and its stage fatality is awesome. On one side of the tracks, the victim's head is held against the side of the oncoming train, resulting in the windows being smashed and blood being smeared all over. Then the victim is thrown to the other side of the tracks where they are run over.

3) The story mode will be divided into chapters like in MK vs DC.
