This episode made me put this show as my favourite series this season.
It's creepy how blunt Mami's death was and the indifference Kyubei showed towards her death. Guess there was a reason why they put off the ED until this episode.

Uha...........
That was just... shocking... And I thought that girl was suspicious too... And the gruesomeness... It turns out that Q-be was the mastermind behind everything... Well, not "100%" yet, but the animation and everything was clearly screaming "KEIKAKU DOOOOORIIIII!" And the ED suddenly went dark... Mami's silhouette... Some bad storms coming through, it looks. But it'd suck if now Madoka becomes a Mahou Shoujo and wish to revive Mami and she really does revive... Someone needs to kill that Q-be... I remember that photoshop of him talking to Saya no Uta... Wonder if there will be a new OP next time...

I have only one speculation to offer so far: Mami actually wanted Madoka to wish for a cake. I get the feeling that your wishes can come out different than you expect, or big wishes can end up leading to unexpected and unpleasant consequences. Even if it doesn't follow the staple setup of wishes being granted too literally or twisted in some way, most significant wishes will have a major impact on things. For instance, if her wish gave her mother a major promotion, that could turn her mother's life upside down. This is probably also one part of why Homura doesn't want Madoka to become a Puella Magi.
Another possible reason would be "equal exchange". In other words, a big wish could result in major costs. This would be something that Mami would be in a position to know very well, since her wish was very large: Spoiler:
Either way, I expect if this is the case it will soon be very apparent when the two make their wishes. In the current situation, I doubt they'd be able to think of anything "small". |

Well the title of the next episode is "both miracles and magic exist" though I'm not sure i'd trust things like episode titles at this point.

So judging from title of episode 4... Yeah, either Sayaka or Madoka makes contract with evil Kyuubei... |

Didn't expect this so soon. I underestimated Urobuchi, granted I haven't seen much of his stuff. Great episode and all the foreshadowing has me really excited about where this story will go. The witch this time was pretty frightening, especially compared to last weeks. Seems Madoka now has a pretty easy decision for her wish, but will it be possible to bring back the dead? I'm not a fan of this idea as it would feel cheap.. Hopefully we'll get to learn something about the limitations of a wish.

Besides the fact that Kyuubey sleeps next to Madoka's head?
Homura will either have to be the world's greatest stalker/ninja, or she's going to risk brutally murdering a little animal in Madoka's face, which she obviously does not wish to do. |

I'm really kind of frustrated that Homura doesn't come out and say "Kyubey is evil" or otherwise explain herself, honestly. I think maybe she's actually a really awkward person who's trying to do some good but has communication problems... she really ought to step up to the plate there, though.
Makes you wonder if there's some kind of silence clause, too. |

Ok, what else we got here:
-The cake was to DIE for. -Have your cake and get eaten too. -In Soviet Russia, cake eats you. -The cake was not a lie, just demonic. |
