It doesn't have a number. It is called a special chapter and can be found in volume 5, around chapter 19.

It is placed before chapter 19 in the manga volume. It is between chapter 18 and 19.

I admit there is something that I find strange is that Hanji and the other did not interrogate Ymir ...

OVA I. Memories of a Scouting Legion Member

Less than three months later I returned back to the world of Shingeki no Kyojin to discuss my thoughts about the OVA right after watching it.

Shingeki no Kyojin is one of those old, good shows that the more time passes on and on it's allure increases; I'll never be tired of both the story and characters, because the premise crudely and violently displays a bitter reality about the world: nature is wise but both relentless and brutal. There is no place for the weak to live comfortably; they must struggle in order to adapt; they must adapt in order to strive; they must strive in order to evolve; they must evolve in order to survive; and they have to repeat this cycle over and over again every day that passes.

After watching the OVA, I do not know what to make about the Titan themselves. I continue to feel murderous rage towards them, but this OVA shed a puzzling clue that puts into a suspicious light about their behavior and origins.

They seem to have expanded on the original manga chapter, but probably in a good way. It was a bit convenient in the manga for them to just stumble upon the book by itself. So running into the Titan that killed Isle (and demonstrating more unussual behavior from it) is probably a good idea. It also ended up tying a bit into the capture tactics they ended up using at the end of the battle of Troost. Though I suppose once they'd cleared the breached and were destroying the Titan's with cannon, the city was a bit more of a controlled environment to capture some Titan's than in the wild.

And more Hange is always a hoot.

Sadly I'm a horrible person. And I imagined that towards the end of them reading her journal that this would happen.

The OVA was ok and it does add mystery about the Titans.

How Ilse died was horrifying but you have to admire that she kept on writing until the end.

I don't even know how she kept writing all that time. I would've probably shit myself if I saw the titan.

Finally got around to watching this. Definitely a great adaption of the manga chapter. They made it way creepier and added some interesting backstory.

The only minor complaint I have (had with the manga, too, tbh) was the way they had her keep writing diligently even as she was about to be beheaded. Maybe their written language is just super efficient or something.

the manga doesn't give much answers to be true, and some people just prefer watch the anime only.
