I have not read the manga, but this ep sucked regardless. So we get human soldiers in full gear out of nowhere (monsters keep them to do what? to deal with the only farm incident in ages?), kids shoot at humans like pros (as if they did not have trouble shooting at a bird moments ago), the soldiers get killed by a monster (like babies who don't know they are in a deadly forest). This is all just bad. Bad writing, bad direction. Looks like I will have to drop this soon...

Yep, this is exactly what I feared. They intend to end the story this season and they've removed all the good parts while keeping the bad ones. In fact, they've made the bad parts worse.
The end of the episode was pretty ridiculous, with Emma and Ray jumping from roof to roof like they're in Assassin's creed and then Spoiler for spoiler:
And I said I had no idea what would happen next now that the kids lost the bunker and were in the wild, and neither did the writers apparently since they just put the timeskip there and provided zero explanation how they found their current shelter and learned how to blend into Demon society.

Great...they borked it further...thanks for saving my time. Should have known after the first few eps it'd go clown fiesta. Last time I ever trust shounen.

Even from an anime only perspective, I'm guessing this must seem pretty bad. The good directing from the first season has gone AWOL.
Oh and I forgot to mention it but next week is a recap! The production must be a mess.

Yeah, I was hoping they would slow down here and flesh out the parts of the story that felt rushed in the latter half of the manga, but it seems they are actually rushing those parts too. As a result, even those already bad parts come off even worse.

Ohh, I was wondering why there was no new episode today. It was a recap.
Wait, what episode are we on? Quote:
Doesn't make it good either way.

Anime-only watcher reporting in.
I'm just flabbergasted and dissapointed at how this current season is handling the story's direction. I mean in other blogs I read that the next arc to be adapted from the manga, after Grace Field, is one of the best story arcs the manga provided with character growth, at introducing new characters, laying the foundations of the current world, and building the narrative and paying-off the execution. However, with the radical detour the anime is taking for its second season I'm just feeling hopeless and confused, if the show ever springs back to the caliber of quality that the first season was two years ago.
