I would like to read his other two books which he has, Digital Fortess and something I cannot remember off top of my head. Oh, Jurassic Park, the book of course, was a lot better than the movie. I still, also, have to get JP 2. |

Is there a movie based off a book in existence actually better than the book itself? Forrest Gump, maybe? I haven't read the book that's based on. I think book based media would be better off sticking with miniseries.
Anyway, I'm currently reading Heart of the Old Country by Tim McLoughlin. Coincidentally, a movie based off it called "The Narrows" is set to show in select movie theaters this summer. Of course, my main man Vince D'Onofrio is in it, so that gives me extra incentive to watch it at some point. Last edited by Dilla; 2009-06-03 at 20:02. |

Fac-to-tum by Charles Bukowski, which is pretty funny and strange book. I got one with the movie cover; with Matt Dillon, Lili Taylor, and Marisa Tomei.

There's certainly a few, though they're hard to remember. "Memento" is one definite...it was based on a short story, and the adaption to a movie took the basic concept and really improved it a lot. I think a lot of cases where the movie is better than the book are cases where they changed around the plot rather than faithfully recreating the book. After all, stories that work in text don't always work visually. And for the movie to be truly better, it can't just mimic, it has to refine and innovate upon the concepts in the book version.
