Yeah, it seemed like the story was actually starting to pick up a bit right when the last translation got pulled...hoping we see the new translation soon.

I haven't actually poked around the manga sections of bookstores in the states in at least a couple of years...are novels something that commonly get licensed, or not so much? I'm kind of thinking that at one point or another GotD will get licensed, since it's not so much a "side story" but a retelling of the original...I'm sure they could win some new fans with that, not just people that were watching the series however many years ago. I wonder with FT, though.

Hey people.

So basically, it's my spring break and I decided to pull an all-nighter to go through all 135 pages of this thread.

Oh, Gundam Wing. The things I do for you.

I just want to say that:
1. Gundam Wing is, and always will be, my favourite anime series. And to find out about this "sequel" 15 years later is mind-boggling. I still don't know what the hell to make of FT cuz it seems like so far, the creator has tossed everything we knew about GW out the window and started pulling other stuff from his backside...but I'm willing to wait to see how it plays out. And Asagi's art is stunning.
2. It is incredibly weird to go through a GW thread this sane/tame. o__o Seriously. Ignoring the little spats here and there, this thread has been pretty controlled and calm. I think I might want to live here.
3. HUGE THANK YOU for all the people who have scanned and translated for us. It means a lot.

Right? I saw FT pop up somewhere online and assumed it was just some fan-created thing and ignored it for awhile. Because I mean...GW...I feel like it had a pretty solid ending. Certainly didn't think they'd dig it back up 15 years later...but then again, I know of other series that it's just been "yeah...it's been done but uh...let's...redo it...and add a few things here and there. There! Oh, wait...wait we could change this little tiny bit...okay...ah, screw it, let's just redo the ENTIRE thing even though the original is 15 or 16 years old and just change the storyline and throw in some new characters while we're at it. Even though the original was fine the way it was." It would appear that there is an emerging trend in Japan where you just write fan fiction for your own completed stories.

That being said, hey, I'm a pretty big fan of Wing, too. It's cool to see it popping up again.

But BoP, BT and GZ were all mangas, not novels (except for BT also being a drama CD).

Ah! Sorry, I meant to write manga. And then I slowed down and re-read your earlier post. Sorry. I forgot that GW has a novel form as well. Which is stupid of me because I just saw them like two weeks ago at the bookstore...ugh.

I think I saw...maybe 3 or 4 of them? They were at a used book store, so I couldn't tell you if that was the whole set or what. There were no pictures to indicate where each novel was in the story line that I noticed, but I only flipped through quick...it's been a little crazy here, but maybe I can run down the street tomorrow and check it out again.

That's actually a little upsetting...Glory of the Defeated sounds way better.

I had a sneaky suspicion when I first heard the title. I was pretty certain it was a reference to Treize, hence the need for losers. But I agree that "Defeated" sounds better.

IIRC the person who was translating them only got partially through the series novels... But I don't recall where they were even posted, now. >.<

I don't know you're referring to this person specifically but About GW has a link to a site where someone was translating the series novels.
