^ Okay, since I actually love Bakemonogatari, I'm going to go ahead and show you the middle finger.

Aaaaaanyway, I was wondering how well The Sacred Blacksmith is doing. How come it's not in the listings?

Thus the disclaimer, "There's no accounting for tastes". My opinion on the matter is no more valid than yours - in fact, you clearly have the weight of public opinion on your side. Of course, that doesn't make you any more right!

First broadcast on AT-X. Cable/satellite channel, no ratings. The following broadcasts are on several UHF channels which are no good either. Actually, I think almost all of the available shows are listed in this week's post, so don't expect any other fall show, except possibly Sasameki Koto which airs on TV Tokyo, and the 7pm version of Animal Detective Kiruminzoo.

Anyway, as I suggested, I'm done updating this week's post, in case some wouldn't have noticed. 2ch won't post full lists anymore and I had to make this one from several posts, so mistakes are easier to make. Please point them out if they're too obvious (i.e. the same show appearing twice in the list).

It's beginning to look like Kuuchuu Buranko might set a record for worst ratings performance by a Noitamina show

Holy crap. I never expected that show to be THE #1 show as far as a recent show goes.

And yeah, Kuchuu Buranko being rated that low is a bit of a shame. I frankly think a lot of shows that deserve viewership isn't really getting it in that list.

2.0%... Those are the lowest Shugo Chara ratings in a while.

I don't care much about that show, but, since Shugo Chara's reformulation, not only Shugo Chara's, Keroro's ratings have dropped too.

I hope Keroro doesn't get hurt due to some unrelated show pulling such a stupid stunt.

Oooooo... now this is interesting! Thanks for sharing.

I remember a few months ago arguing against the notion that K-On was a male-focused anime.

Well, it is admittedly tops amongst male fans... but it's also second amongst female fans. So, I guess that K-On could certainly be said to hold substantial cross-gender appeal, after all.

Furthermore, 4 KyoAni titles rate highly with both genders. It looks like moe does hold appeal to female fans as well.

What's interesting here is that Nanoha is in the Top 7 for guys, but nowhere on the female list. While the female list is dominated by mecha anime, which is genuinely astounding.

Males liking magical girl anime and females liking mecha anime... that's probably a switch, to be sure.

My initial take on this list... Japanese females want to see stronger, more hot-blooded and/or charismatic male characters like what you typically see in mecha anime (notice the presence of Gurren Lagann in the top 10 list for females). And judging by the popularity of K-On amongst female fans, it could perhaps be said that Japanese females like to see their own gender portrayed the way it is in K-On.

Just like Nanoha's strong character appeals to the opposite gender, so does the strong character of somebody like Kamina or Zero/Lelouch.

Kuuchuu Buranko seems to be doing a bit better but Aoi Bungaku took a big hit this week, I guess it was to b expected as No Longer Human is the most popular book.

Anyone know where Darker than Black 2 lies? I thought it was a more or less popular show (the original at least).

Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu: Purezza?

Nyan Koi?

I think that mecha anime is pretty renowned cross gender, but I'd definitely prefer to see more of that than Magical Girl shows. Strong leading male protagonists are easier to enjoy for me, though there are good girl ones, but they're harder to get into for me.

It'd be nice to see more strong intelligent (not shy) lead protagonist (like Kaze no Stigma) who isn't a total bastard (Death Note), clueless about common things (Itazura no Kiss) or bad at life (Code Geass).

DBT2 had a 0.8% rating for the Oct 18-25 week, according to the previous page.

DTB is the most popular show of the season on 2ch, ratings aren't important for most late night anime.

Firs of all, these kind of anime air at 2:00 a.m. or later so you really can't expect anyone other than some hardcore otaku to watch it, because of this they have no revenue from ads and don't make any money from airing on TV. All their earnings come from DVD/BD sales and merchandising so it doesn't matter how many people watch the show but how many buy related stuff.

DTB2 has the biggest post count on 2ch of all the anime that started this season, which makes it the most popular one. This is much more important than ratings because the people of this board are the ones that buy the DVDs.
