According to manga, Shinku suppose to lose her right hand to Suigin Tou in second fight. The 1st time she got problem is easily remedied when the boy turns the key in her.

I do wonder if anime will cover that.

Jun braved some test from the rabbit dude with Suisenki's help to retrieve Shinku's missing limb, and as the result, he won her affection sort off.

I had an inkling about that too, but Suigintou refered to Sousei as Suisei's sister (at least, that's how it was translated). So that kinda convinced me Sousei was a female. But boku isn't exclusively used for males, is it? Because I heard some anime girls use "boku" as well, such as Sakura in Da Capo.

Well, I went back and checked and...you're right! Shinku says that Sousei Seki is Suisei Seki's "futago no imouto"--'younger twin sister'. I knew about the nonstandard use of 'boku', but I was under the impression that it was mostly reserved for songs and for extremely skilled/tomboyish girls. I guess when you watch through the raw during a short break in studying a couple of things slip under the radar. And, of course, had my brain been working on something else besides schoolwork, I would have remembered that Shinku refers to the Rozen Maidens as "sisters" in the episode where Suisei Seki is first released.

Ah, well. At least my "gender bender" comment is still valid

Souseiseki is LOVELY!!! And this series is definitely becoming more and more interesting and surprises me in character development and depth.

oh, and it seems Suigintou is somehow quite obsessed with lactic acid drinks, both in anime and in manga

Whooo hooo, I finished all my university finals yesterday! So I finally have time to watch some anime, and watched 10 and 11 that's been sitting on my HD for a while.

Spoiler for Comments on 10 and 11:

Beginning of episode 10 Suigintou visited Shinku's dream world and had a chat, setting a time to have a deciding battle for Rosa Mystica. Battle time is set on 11 PM the following night at the M realm (Suigintou's realm). Heh heh, when the dolls were acting out the story of Snow White was kinda funny. Jun was the prince, Shinku was Snow White. Jun blushed at the thought of kissing Shinku . And Jun blushed some more when Nori took off all the dolls' clothes to wash them (they were wearing only a white peice of clothing underneath). It's not like they're anatomically correct (are they?). Then end of the episode Shinku revealed more about what the Alice Game is about. Apparently the winner of the Alice game who collects all the Rosa Mystica, becomes Alice, some kind of a tremendously beautiful entity. It seems that Jun has an interest in cars as well .

Episode 11 begins the battle. To have a "no medium assisted" battle, Suigintou trapped Jun into his own dream world, filled with computers. Jun is bombarded into submission by his painful past. This is where Jun's past, and why he is like this, is revealed. Apparently Jun was an exceptional student, who got great marks on exams. Many students thought all he ever did was study and school work. But when he failed an exam, and on top that he had a hobby of sewing, classmates made fun of him (called him "tailor" boy). But Nori and other dolls comes to rescue Jun from his dream world. Jun comes to the rescue of Shinku, and like stormy001_M1A2 said, who's right arm was ripped away by Suigintou in battle.

Seems like the next episode will wrap up the battle. Who's this "father" entity that Shinku keeps mentioning about?

I certainly agree, qith a title "I am shinku" or something, it does make it look like it's the end. Initially thought it was a 13 ep. show though. Still one of the best of the season

I watched the chinese subs and Shinku looked like she was in pain when her arm was ripped out and she looked like she was going into shock afterwards. Watching the chinese subs when I can't read chinese is a Bad Thing(TM) it left my head swirly with even more questions. Thank you Muir for the spoilers since that cleared up for me why Jun is the way he is. The funny thing is with the eng subs I was left at a cliff hanger on ep 6 and with the chinese subs i am on another cliff hanger on ep 11, no more cliff hangers pls!!!

Awww, Shinku so cute when she cries, and also when she's not wearing her hood and when she lets her hair down. Jun fixes Shinku's arm, subsequently, the battle against Suigintou is won, and dies in a blue flame. *Gasp* Suigintou is an incomplete doll. Their "father" never finished making her. Lots of touchy-feely emotional talk about Jun. Long story short, Jun is a changed man. He's become much more confident and better as a person. The dolls disappeared for a while, and they came back with lots of noise and everything's back to "normal". It seems like Jun is stuck with the dolls .

Hmm...there were no previews at the end of the episode. 12 the last episode right? It says there's 13 episodes at AnimeSuki, and at main site it seems there's only 12. I felt episode 12 ended pretty definitively... . Just in case this is the final episode, I'll have my final thoughts: This anime was better than I thought, and exceeded my expectations. Funny at beginning, moving at end. All the characters were likable (well, except Suigintou of course). Nori is such a cute big sister. I thought the VA for Shinku was perfect. Has a slight holier-than-thou tone, but vulnerable and delicate when needed. A better anime of this season, I liked it a lot .

So many recent shows really left me unsatisfied at the end:
Kannaduki no miko, Samurai 7, Melody of Oblivion, Tenjo Tenge, etc, etc.

I like endings that are either happy or sad, or heck even lukewarm non-changing ones like Rozen's was. Anything beats "cheezy mind fuck"/"We couldnt think of an ending"/"so confusing you can draw your own conclusions"/"we ran out of budget and decided to stop animating properly"/"we'll make the ending so unclear its impossible to know what happened"/etc.

Any show that starts off taking itself seriously shouldnt become a complete cop-out near the end, imo. Rozen at least stayed in tune to the very end, and I appreciate that much

Even though I disliked our snot-nosed protagonist to the very end, this was a good series. (the no-parents bit is a tad overused, but you cannot hold that against any particular show (Mommy and Daddy onegai) )

What I want to know, and what I would ask Shinku, is if she would really kill of hina ichigo in order to complete the game.

4 of them still kicking, and Shinku didn't even take Suigintou Rozen Mystica. I think the game is a big plot hole if you ask me, although I still love the show. I meant, I would really hate to see them fight each other and kill each other....wait the minute, maybe that's what the father wanted. He wants to lure the dolls to think being perfect is everything, but in reality, learning to accept imperfection and giving up on becomeing Alice while surrounded by friends is what turn the dolls to "Alice" a.k.a. humans. What a slide dog the father is. Poor Suigintou didn't understand this and she pay for the price. Actually, as much as I hate what Suigintou did I wish they can redeem her and have all five of the sisters live together, maybe to have Jun finishes her or something later.

This anime had potential

It was unique
The characters were interesting
The pacing was solid

but in the end, the much anticipated drama didn't deliver what it promised...

I would consider this a solid B anime. One step above mediocre, but it's worth to watch based on its unique charm alone.

On another note, I heard the manga was lightyears better.
