Mahou shoujo and moe pretty much go together so I'm not really surprised.

I think all the girls are cute and not even one are failing for me but why was madoka's illustration on the lower part looks like a colored sketch?

They all looks like that, but Madoka part is bigger so it looks more "rough."

^Making rough pen-touch is kinda Kishida's style. You know how rough Durarara's chara design is. I think it's kinda stylish, though.

Homura's design downgraded imo, but still looks pretty good.

But it keeps you coming back and slowly builds anticipation instead of processing too much at once. It's a time tested marketing technique.

And it DID keep you coming back again and again to check on it. Making it more promising and popular on the masses that's been waiting for it.

Now I don't know what would be reaction would be if it disappoints me. But I think that's impossible given the ones who are making it.

I'm curious, why don't they use the original character design? Why do they have to redesign them again in anime? I don't ask specifically to this anime. I mean it in general.

Most of the time because it's easier to animate.
