Can I just say, that ED worms it's way deeper and deeper into my cerebral cortex and won't go away... The piano really sells it, but even the lyrics make sense for the anime and the accompanying animation suits it perfectly.

Rejoice, all. I'm pleased to report that with the events of episode 11, Kamisama Kazoku has pulled itself out of near-mediocracy-but-still-entertaining into the realm of just-fun-and-entertaining. A big step up. Granted, that Samatarou continues to be the insensitve, ignorant low-life that he has been through out the show (except for a few moments of brilliance), the developments around Kumiko, whose been quite lackluster until now, ratchets up the tension and suspense considerably.

Spoiler for speculation on Fumiko:

I don't think Fumiko is Kumiko in another form, as someone mentioned above. Fumiko is probably the same being as the creature that's supposedly Kumiko's mother.

If thought about carefully, Fumiko is rather like a demon-possessed version of Samatarou's mother (or older sister); just as crazy, just bad instead of good, which makes perfect allegorical sense.

Once more, Kumiko really shines with her transformation in this episode, so look forward to that.

In ep.11 the series completes its gradual transformation from the gag collection it was in ep.1 to all-out drama. While there are still a few jokes, they are utterly incidental compared to the focused flow of the life-and-death drama. It is possible that some may prefer the harmless fun, but this development has been underway for quite a while now. The question is how it will end. This probably depends on whether the novels are finished yet.

Spoiler for Episode 11:

My theory is that Kumiko is a demon, but not an all-out bad demon, more like Shia from Pita Ten. I suspect that Fumiko is actually Kumiko's boss, or at least a more experienced demon, and is forcing her to collect life energy or she will die. I further suspect that Samatarou will learn this and be forced to choose between saving Tenko or Kumiko. Finally, out of the blue, I forecast that Samatarou will not choose one of them, but instead sacrifice himself to save them both, thus redeeming himself after several episodes of stupidity. At which point Kamisama returns from Heaven and untangles the whole thing. But that's just my wishful thinking, of course, based on what we've seen so far.

Saw Ep9 last night.

Spoiler:

-Whose hand did the evil red-dress girl touch in the beginning?
-Why was she surprised and pulled away quickly?

-I sense forces are conspiring on one side to pull Tenko away from Samatarou.
-On the other side, you have mom, the goddesses and dad rooting for LVE!,
obviously pushing him towards her.

had me laughing
out loud with his stunned reaction. Even meme was like "get
to business, boy."

Problems:
Samatarou is an indecisive person - he knows he likes Tenko
but his mind wanders so easily and when you-know-who came
back to town it was all too easy to distract him. I sense trouble
ahead.

Tenkos' denial of the confession was almost cute - she looked
very nervous about it all.

Eagerly awaiting the next episode.

Spoiler for Ep.9:

For once(?), the sisters actually give some pretty good advice. If he had opened up his feelings for Tenko, he would surely have avoided the heartbreak that is bound to follow with the return of Kumiko. It was a near miss as it was.

I wonder if the "floor" comment by Misa means that she remembers the alternative future that was cancelled, where Tenko and Samatarou kissed on the floor. She probably does - she may act goofy but everything we see so far implies that she is fairly smart and has learned a lot of divine skills.

Too bad Kumiko showed up exactly when she did ... Tenko and Samatarou were pretty much ideally poised for going to the floor. A sudden twist would be all that was needed... Or perhaps that's just me thinking like that. ^_^;

I suspect she's talking about sex - this is why Samatarou responded so shocked
and embarassed.

She means business. I respect that. Honestly!

Instead he acted like an embarassed little boy.

No doubt Misa remembers what happened in the alternate timeline.

The exhortations to victory by the "cheerleaders" in the beginning might be
referring to the fact that the red dress girl is soon going to make his life a very
awful thing I suspect.

You know in the intro where they show a desperate looking Tenko with her
hand wildly grabbing out for Samatarou's and she's not able to get a grip?

What if all of this is just a big sham to seperate the two?

It's obvious they belong together, someone seems to have an incentive
to keep them apart.

I suspect she wears red.

Just saw episode 12.

Spoiler for Episode 12:

So, this episode contains basically all of the elements leading up to next week's grand finale.
-The reason why Samatarou/Tenko's classmates have been seeing the same dream, and his realization of Kumiko as a demon.
-Out of concern for Tenko, he tells Kumiko his desire to split.
-Kumiko's confession of being the daughter of the devil, who has to constantly feed her mother with human souls.
-Kumiko's mother promises to put an end to it if she brings Samatarou's soul, knowing he's the son of God, resulting in Kumiko's advancements, only to actually have a romantic interest in Samatarou.
-Kumiko pleads Samatarou to rescue her from her predicament.
-Kumiko tells Samatarou that Tenko will be going to heaven soon.
-Kumiko's mother (Fumiko) makes a dramatic appearance, and tells Kumiko that her sickly old woman state was a farce to goad Kumiko into stealing human souls, where upon she would become young and energetic upon consuming them.
-Tenko makes an unexpected entrance, and is nearly killed by Fumiko, when Suguru intervenes. As Fumiko leaves, vowing to get Samatarou soon, she hurls her scythe towards Tenko, injuring her.
-Samatarou, Kumiko, and Suguru bring Tenko back home (telling her that it's her home), where Sam dresses her wounds.
-The Kamiyama family (minus Papa-san) contemplate on what to do about Kumiko's situation, where Mama-san steps in, saying that she will take care of it, being a goddess after all.
-Tenko, knowing she has to go to heaven soon, is in distress thinking that Samatarou is being kind to her out of sympathy.
-Tenko wants Samatarou to tell her she's needed, and that he loves her.

Which basically sorts out loose ends of the plots, including the Ai/Ruru arc, to be settled in the final episode. Of course, Papa-san/Suguru will play a significant factor as well, where we can look forward to a Samatarou-Tenko closure.
