Did his methods really help Rumi very much though? She still seems to be very isolated. It's actually kind of sad how little her situation seems to have changed -her unexpected use of the situation Hachiman had created last season offered at least a little hope that she could make headway with her peers, but the only possible improvement seems to be that she wasn't getting snickered at this time around. She's still the kid who's left standing alone at a distance when the others gather.

Arya might be right about Rumi being a mirror for Yukino this episode. She has shades of several characters (she was even compared to Yui of all people!) but her decisiveness in dealing does sort of evoke the absent Yukino.

Hikki's "solution" to Rumi's problem didn't help her very much because there's a limit to how much people from the outside can help you if you don't want to be helped, it's clear Rumi's different from other people her age, and if she doesn't want to get herself involved with other people, there's really not much anyone can do about it, be either Hikki or anyone else...

From the looks of it, I don't think so. But it's too early to say. Maybe we'll never know.

In a way, I hope that Hachiman's wrong in his thinking when he thinks he helped her out.

I kind of got the impression Rumi developed her loner attitude at least partly because of how she was ostracized and excluded by the other kids. She's a bit like Hikki in that regard. That being said you're correct in that her attitude is probably a major part of why she hasn't reintegrated with her peers.

He did say something along the lines of "Even with my own methods, I did manage to save some things." The way I interpreted it is how he's referring to her and that summer camp. Or maybe that scene with her and his monologue are together just by coincidence.

Anyone who thinks that that is how little sisters are is only deluding themselves, this is just anime bs making characters more mature than they should be, heck not one character here is anywhere near close to being like how a teenager really is, if they were they would be having sex, doing drugs and who knows what else at least they got the "my problems (which in the end mean nothing) are so much more important than anything else" part.
well, I don't have a little brother as well hahaha...so I don't have any idea. Anyways my question is off topic(if it's okay with the admins), I was not asking about the maturity of the characters, but how is it for you guys, your personal experience(off topic, if that's allowed here).
thanks for the answers though

Random thing, but the way Yui carries her backpack seems really uncomfortable.

They basically meant the same thing to me. And i wouldn't associate "cool" with riajuu. Riajuu is more like the common normal person that builds his experiences through lots of interactions with a lot of other people.

I froze when I saw Hikigaya's tears. I didn't expect them. I kinda expected him to be a bit more emotional than usual, but this, this surprised me so much! Impressing. I don't remember last time anime affected me so much. Also, it's nice to see manly tears. I also liked the moment, when Hachiman for the first time outright rejected Yuigahama's affections (he didn't like holding hands with her). I kinda lost all hope for romance in this series, at least including Hikigaya (I was always rooting for him with Yukino). It surprised me when he talked with the teacher, that he would be all over her if he was older (as much as it surprised her too as a teacher she shouldn't get flustered like that, I can't get over teachers acting like that in anime; it pisses me off)…

What still puzzles me is Yukino's reactions. She's more messed up than I thought. She acted like a complete brat. Not that Hikigaya or Yui were much better, but I'm really disappointed in Yukino, as a person.

I'm almost speechless as well. Phenomenal episode this week with our Hachiman showing emotions.

Hiratsuka-sensei was so cute~ Hahahahaha! XD

And wow, 8man cried, I was half-expecting him to berate Yukinon and the other half was him prostrating, but I never expected him to cry so it was a surprise, and a very good one.

Can't wait to see what happens with Hand-Gesture guy next episode :P

Hikki narrowed down everything with logic and restrictions while Yukinoshita thought they wasn't anything more she could do. No surprise their mistaken mindsets drove each other to their wits' end. Even when they managed to speak their minds, it's safe to say the club would have been gone if Yuigahama hadn't tried her utmost to hold things together by saying her heartfelt feelings, something the three of them ought to have done at the start.

But this isn't a rom-com.

It's a rom-com gone wrong.
