She was totally out of her league and got found out really bad.
Those public humiliation during the two speeches should be enough punishment as it is. There's no need to continue hating her. Though I wonder if she can put it on her CV :P

That's true. I started to pity her because it seems she doesn't have an evil streak in her after all. Ironically, if she was more earnest about getting 'help' from Yukinon in the first place, she would have probably helped her with her confidence in public speaking. |

Hm, kinda boring.
So Hachiman spoke out his mind which is a win for himself, and at the same time he made himself a common enemy for the rest. The teacher is really a psycho. The sooner Hachiman leaves that school , the better for him. Next episode is the final one, good thing. Wouldn't want to follow it further, because the rest besides Hachiman is annoying as shit. Ofc he won't end up with anyone, he doesn't even want that. (he only admires Yukino, nothing more). For Hachiman's future it depends on whether he can find something that interests him and let him use all the intelligence he got. If not, well he is gonna end up in a shitty position, hehe. Social status wise, ofc he is gonna stay a loner. He is staying true to himself. Last edited by Battler-kun; 2013-06-21 at 06:43. |

Let's find all the things I really liked about this episode:
The sister is part of a Jazz band (ultra-win). Her and sensei being awkwardly friendly with Hikki. Sagami getting berated, even though it was at a cost to Hikki. Yukino playing music (actually, surprisingly good music overall). Oh, and Hikki and Yukino conversations. Yukino offered Hikki a lot of praise in this episode, and to an impressive degree. It's actually shocking how much her attitude towards him has changed now. I feel like it's almost a bit too fast, but I suspect this is partially due to the adaptation. Having that reference to the very beginning during that conversation was such a great touch too, especially because of the very large implication of it. Unfortunately Yuigahama ruined the second best Yukino scene in this whole series and for that she cannot be forgiven. On another note, I have to say that the way the sensei treated Hikki was a bit awkward. Extremely friendly, even beyond motherly. But I suppose it could be worse, she could have been playing drums with one eye. Edit: I have one complaint though, albeit one that nobody will really care about. I've never seen a conductor of a jazz band actually, well conduct. At least not like that. Certainly not with a baton.

I know there's one extra episode left, but my verdict for this series is ultimately the same as it was for Jinrui. It provided some different viewpoints, which is good, and it was well put together, nothing wrong there, but the series' mindset is ultimately too cynical for it to ever be one of my favorites. What I'm looking for in entertainment lies elsewhere.

Nothing awkward there; she felt hurt seeing Hikki hurt himself for the sake of helping others, she wanted to comfort him at least a little. |

Never have the comparisons between 8man and the Batman been so apt. He made himself out to be the villain so that everybody else would be happy and Sagami's "reputation" wouldn't be ruined. It was really painful to see him commit social suicide. Shizuka's lecture was lovely. She perfectly understood his intentions, and that he isn't as tough as he pretends to be. He might be used to the pain of being an outcast but it still hurts him. Hayato and Yukino also understand this, and that's the reason Hayato disagrees with his methods. Not sure where Yui stands. 8man is simply too nice for his own good. He should think about his own happiness.

Ponkan8 drew her in with a pouting expression, so the anime mimicked the light novel and brought it over at face value. |

Plain, yes, but not ugly. The series tries to emphasize that Hachiman's mean look is not a genetic trait like say... Ryuuji's mean look in Toradora is, and that it's merely a scowling facial expression because he's bitter about life in general.
